Brosnan Farm Home
Destroyed by Fire

Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Brosnan and
son, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Brosnan,
lost their home by fire Saturday
evening about 8 o'clock. The bed,
bedding and clothing upstairs were
a complete loss. Some furniture
downstairs was saved. They are liv
ing in the Lena grange hall until a
new house can be built, Mr. and
Mrs. Johnny Brosnan have been
working on a small new house this
winter, for themselves, but it was
n't completed and they hadn't mov
ed yet.
Jim Ayers of Hermiston spent
Wednesday on Butter creek visiting
friends.
Mrs. Dora Moore was a patient at
St. Anthony's hospital from Tues
day until Thursday.
Mrs. Harris of Hermiston is work
ing at the Russell Moore home.
Miss Helen Vogler pent the week
end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs
Henry Vogler. Helen is a senior at
Washington State college at Pull
man. A linen shower was given Thurs
day by the Pine City club ladies in
honor of Miss Donna Logdson of
, Athena, bride-to-be of Guy Moore,
son of Mrs. Roy Neill.
Mrs. Neal Knighten and daughter
and Mrs. Clarence Moore of Hard
man, and Mrs. Cason and Mrs. Rit
chie of Heppner attended the show
er for Guy Moore and Donna Logd
son on Thursday at Pine City.
Mrs. Robert Smith and son of Ir
rigon called Thursday at the Rus
sell Moore home. They left this
week end for Portland to make
their home, Mr. Smith is working
in the ship yards at Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ayers left Wed
nesday for Burbank, Cal.
Charley Morehead of Ellensburg,
Wash., is visiting at the Roy Neill
and A. E. Wattenburger homes.
Mrs. Mamsfield of Pendleton and
Mrs. Maude Logdson of Athena at

Thursday at Pine City.
Mr. and Mrs. John Healy attend
er the funeral in Condon Friday for
Patrick Carty.
Mrs. Roy Neill and Mrs. Elva
Winters, and Mrs. Letha Harris
spent Tuesday in Walla Walla shop
ping. The taxpayers of Pine City school
district are very well pleased. The
district has paid off all indebtedness,
the first time in a number of years.

Notice is hereby given that on the
second Monday in May (Monday,
May 11, 1942) the board of equali
zation of Morrow County, Oregon,
will 'convene, at the Courthouse in
Heppner, Oregon, and publicly ex
amine the assessment rolls of said
County for the year 1942-1943, and
will correct errors in valuation, de
scription or quality of land, lots or
other property, assessed by the As
sessor of Morrow County, Oregon
as of January 1, 1942.
All persons interested or having
any complaints against their assess
ments for the year 1942-1943, should
appear at that time. Petitions for
the reduction in assessment must be
in writing, verified by oath of ap
plicant or his attorney and must be
filed with the board the first 15
days it is in session. Any petition
or application not so made, verified
and filed shall not be considered or
acted upon by the board.

Notice is hereby given by virtue
of the laws of the State of Oregon
that I have taken up the hereinafter
described animals at my place 15
miles south of Echo, in Morrow
County, Oregon, and that I will on
Saturday, the 9th day of May, 1942,
beginning at 10 o'clock a. m., sell
said animals to the highest bidder
for cash in hand subject to the right
of redemption of the owner or ow
ners thereof. Said animals are de
scribed as follows:
1 grey gelding, 4 to 5 years old,
apparently unbroke.
1 black gelding, 7 to 8 years old,
possibly broke; brand unidentified
and not recorded in either Morrow
or Umatilla counties.
