Information Arrives on
Wheat Loan Eligibility
Wheat growers whose total acre
age of soil depleting crops for 1938
does not exceed 105 per cent of their
soil depleting acreage allotment will
be eligible for loans under the ever
normal granary plan, according to
information just received from
Washington by the state AAA of
fice at Oregon State college.
While details regarding amount,
terms and conditions of the pro
posed loans have not been fully de
veloped, it has been definitely an
nounced that Joans will be available
this year because of the low farm
price on June 15 and the high esti
mated crop this year.
To qualify for loans, the wheat
must be stored either in federally
licensed or approved warehouses, or
in eligible storage on farms in cer
tain states. Oregon is included
among the states where farm stor
age will be permitted. A leaflet ex
plaining the requirements which
farm storage must meet is now be
ing prepared.
Grades of wheat which will be
eligible for loans have been speci
fied and in general mean that winter
wheat grading No. 3 or better and
spring wheat grading No. 2 or bet
ter will be eligible. Details of these
requirements will be in the hands
of all county committees in the near
future.
