Wild Life Agencies to Confer Again at OSC The second annual Oregon Wild Life conference has been called by Governor Charles H. Martin to meet at Oregon State college December 8 and 9, in which all organizations and individuals interested in Ore gon's wild life resources are invited to participate. A similar conference held a year ago resulted in the for mation of the Oregon Wild Life Fed eration, of which Ed Averill of Port land is president. Mr. Averill will preside at the second 'conference. While the program is not yet com plete, the principal features have been outlined, which indicate that important subjects will be consid ered by the conference, one of the chief items of which will be methods of stream purification in this state, according to R. E. Dimick, head of the game management department at Oregon State college, who is coop erating in handling arrangements. Ira N. Gabrielson, chief of the U. S. biological survey and a former Oregonian, will headline the pro gram, which will also include Gov ernor Martin among the speakers. Both Martin and Gabrielson will speak at the annual banquet, to be held the evening of December 8. Last year close to 400 persons at tended this function. The purpose of the conference this year is to follow through on the plans and programs started a year ago, say those in charge. The movement to unite all interested agencies in an intelligent develop ment of wild life resources started two years ago with the holding of a national conference in Washington, D. C. Oregon followed this up with a big conference a year ago, and now seeks to continue the work thus started. Agencies which have accepted in vitations to participate in the con ference include the biological sur vey, the U. S. bureau of fisheries, the U. S. forest service, the State Game commission, the State Fish commission, the organized livestock industry, and the Oregon State col lege of agriculture, in which is the department of fish, game and fur animal management. Harlan McCurdy Jr., was among Pacific university students spending Thanksgiving at home. Agricultural Staff To Hold Meeting Agricultural and home economics workers of the entire state who op erate under the auspices of Oregon State college will meet on the cam pus December 13 to 16 this yejar for their annual conference. As has been customary in recent years, the conference includes the entire extension, experiment station and instructional staffs, which makes possible the planning of programs for the coming year on a well CO' ordinated basis. The annual confer ence period affords opportunity for the field staff, now maintained in every county in the state, to confer with members of other divisions in the school of agriculture on prob lems affecting their areas, says Wm. A. Schoenfeld, dean and director of agriculture. In addition, it permits unified consideration of national and state policies and trends in connec tion with agricultural work. President G. W. Peavy, Dean Schoenfeld, and Frank L. Ballard, vice-director of the extension ser vice, have recently returned from national organization meetings of the land grant colleges in Washington, D. C, and will be prepared to re port on cooperative work with the department of agriculture. Other prominent speakers to be heard at the conference will include Ira M. Gabrielson, head of the U.
