The Community Sings will not be Tield this week on account of the Thanksgiving holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Sabin Hastings and daughter Lily and Forest Adams drove to Heppner Saturday after noon. The only one from Hardman to get an elk was Carey Hastings. , Last Sunday Mrs. McMutcheon's "class, "The Loyal Leaders," gave a puppet show depicting the life of Moses. Mr. and Mrs. Carl McDaniel of Lone Rock attended the dance and play here. They stayed over night with Mr. and Mrs. Owen Leathers. The high school play, "Bashful Bobby," given on Saturday night, was successful. It started promptly on time and the attendance was good. The high school is now reading plays preparatory to making another se lection. Rehearsals will' begin next week. Both of the grade teachers plan to spend Thanksgiving out of town. Mrs. McCutcheon will visit friends and relatives in Boardman and Miss Morton will go to her home in Port land. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rogers of Kinzua were visitors at the home of Mrs. Rogers' parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Adams, this week end. They were dinner guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rob ison. Mrs. B. H. Bleakman, Buster Bleakman and Ed McDaniel were business visitors in Heppner Satur dav. At Christian Endeavor Sunday night Frances Inskeep. the secre tary, presided in the absence of the president and vice-president. Dele eates to the last two conventions re ported. Loes Stevens and Frances InskeeD reported the Y. P. F. meet ing held at The Dalles November 12 to 14. and Mildred Clary and Albert Schunk reported the one held at Heppner on Nov. 18. Albert Walker returned Sunday evening from the Heppner hospital where he has spent the last few days. On Saturday, November 27, at 2 o'clock the voters will meet at the high school to vote on the budget. Rev. R. V. Hinkle of Portland held the regular monthly service at the church Monday evening. Mrs. Neal Knighten and Miss Iris Morton sang a duet. The congregation was larger than .usual. Herbert Schunk is back in school after an absence of several days. On Wednesday afternoon the grade school gave a program in Miss Mor ton's room at 1:30 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Ayers and Miss Dolly Farrens returned from La Grande and are now packing house hold goods at the home of Mrs. Wal ter Farrens preparatory to moving to Heppner. Vera McDaniel, Mildred Clary and Herbert Schunk were on the honor roll in Miss Morton's room last week. The first number of the school pa per which is edited by the sixth grade was distributed this week and received very much favorable com ment. A contest is in progress to de cide on a name for the paper. The primary pupils are collecting pictures of Indian and Pilgrim life. The pictures are first placed on the bulletin board and then are collect ed in scrap books. H. E. Club Elects; To Eat Hodge-Podge Willows grange Home Economics club held the November meeting on Friday in the auxiliary room at the Legion hall in lone. After the bus iness meeting the time was spent in preparing booths for the bazaar Saturday night. At the election of cfub officers the following were cho sen for the coming year: Vida Heli ker, president; Elsie Peterson, vice president; Mary Lindsey, secretary; Stella O'Meara, treasurer. Marie Ledbetter asked that those coming to the regular grange busi ness meeting at Cecil Saturday eve ning, Nov. 27, bring "something in a can" for a hodge-podge supper after meeting. The H. E. club is planning a Christmas tree and pro gram to be given at the grange hall. The following committee on ar rangements was appointed: Roxy Krebs, Ida Kopp and Leola Brink man. The next meeting of the club will be at the grange hall in Cecil, Dec. 17, and will be an all-day meeting. Willows grange will hold the No vember business meeting Nov. 27 at the hall. Election of officers will be a part of the business of the evening. The dance and bazaar given in lone Nov. 20 by Willows grange and the H. E. club were well attended. A splendid assortment of fancy work, a candy booth and other attractions were well patronized by those at tending and the evening was re ported as a financial success.
