Official Paper tor Morrow County
A Healthy Sign.
MORROW county democrats met
in Hmnnw Saturday afternoon
and selected a full ticket of candi
dates for local offices. Already
many republicans had entered the
lists for various offices, with the
result that many lively contests are
in the offing both for the May 15
primaries and for the general elec
tion in the fall.
There are good men in the field
for all the offices and in many in
stances it will be hard for voters
to determine who the most capable
man for a position may be. The
situation is a healthy one, however,
because there is real incentive for
voters to go to the polls. Too often.
lack of contests give voters nothing
to decide and they take no interest.
Problems of government are be
coming ever more complicated with
government branching out farther
into various fields. Such compli
cation has resulted in an ever in
creasing tax bill as well. This fur
nishes additional incentive for Mr.
Average Voter to take a more ac
tive hand in matters politic. And
only through an active, thinking
electorate can the problems con
fronted be solved to the advantage
of all.

The six-weeks' summer session
will run from June 22 to July 31,
and the post-session from August
to 28. Eighteen well-known au
thorities, many of them from large
eastern colleges and universities,
will supplement the strong resident
staff in conducting some 189 courses
in the regular session. The four
weeks' post-session will offer cour
ses in the school of education and
in the departments of bacteriology,
botany, chemistry, entomology, ge
ology, mathematics, physics and
zoology in the school of science.
The opportunity to obtain the ser
vices of this unusually large visit
ing staff comes as a result of the
holding of two national conventions
in the northwest this summer the
National Educational association in
Portland June 28 to July 3, and the
American Home Economics asso
ciation in Seattle July 6 to 11. Ar
rangements were made for several
of the educational leaders brought
west for these meetings to remain
as members of the summer session
faculty here, Dean Smith says.
While it is early to make accurate
predictions, an Increase of approxi
mately 15 per cent in enrollment is
indicated, Dean Smith believes. The
summer sessions are almost entire
ly self-supporting from fees.
