Barlow and family had din ner Sunday at Fleck's orchard near The Dalles with Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Akers, parents of Mrs, Barlow. Edith Marie Barlow ac companied her grandparents from Portland where she had been spending the summer, and came home with her parents, while Mr. and Mrs. Akers went on to Golden dale, Wash., for a visit with rela tives. Roland Humphreys and Miss Ev elyn Humphreys, accompanied by Mrs. E. R. Huston, departed for Portland Tuesday where they will visit with relatives and friends dur ing the week. Mr. and Miss Hum phreys are preparing to leave early in September for New York city, where they will enter Columbia university for the coming year. Dr. nad Mrs. D. W. Harrington of Sunnyside, Wash., motored to Heppner Sunday and were accom panied home Monday by their daughter, Miss Elizabeth Harring ton, who was a house guest for a week at the home of Miss Anna Wightman. Loy M. Turner, engineer with the city of Long Beach, Oal., who has been visiting this week with rela tives and friends, will depart Sat urday for La Grande where he will meet Mrs. Turner who has been visiting at Baker, and together they will return to Long Beach, Bertie Lee Keen will arrive in Heppner next Thursday, Sept 3, and will be at the Clark Barber shop for five days only to do per manent natural waving. Eph Eskelson is confined to his bed at home by illness from which he is slowly recovering. Mr. Eskel son has been ill for the most part of the week. Uncle Joe Eskelson is spending a short time at Lexington from his home in Salem. He was a business visitor in this city Wednesday. While there and in Pendleton they also visited Mrs. Lindsay's sisters. They returned home Wednesday. Mrs. Rudolph Klinger and daugh ter Doris called at the McDaid home for a short while Monday. Miss Camilla Kilkenny drove with Mrs. John Kilkenny and chil dren to Condon where they are spending some time at the home of Mrs. Kilkenny's mother. Mrs. Madge Doherty and daugh ter Lucile visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Doherty for a while Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Curran and Frank Kilkenny were callers at the McDaid home Monday. Mrs. Rose Sanborn who has been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kilkenny left on Thurs day for Heppner. Mr. and Mrs. Claud Finley have been quite busy this week moving to Stanfleld where they will make their home. They took over their last load Monday. Charles Melville and Miss Ger trude Tichenor called at the Lind say home on Friday. School begins at Alpine on Mon day, August 31. Miss Peggy Kilkenny went to Heppner Monday and is staying with her cousin, Miss Mae Kilken ny, while the rest of the family is away.
