HERE lit Correspondent The old-time dance given by the grnage in the school house Satur day evening was well attended and enjoyed by all. The Rose family, Mr. Macomber and Mr. Ransier furnished the music. Frances Titus returned home Tu esday from Caldwell, Idaho, where he has been spending his summer's vacation. Pat Carty shipped about 180 lambs to market last week. Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Messenger and Lois motored to Sunnyside, Satur day. They returned home Sunday evening, bringing home a lot of fruit Miss Bethmyrl Miller left Sunday for Redmond to spend a few days with her sisters. George Wicklander is selling wat ermelons to a fruit stand in Port land. They have been coming after them in their large trucks. The F. L. Brown house was de stroyed by fire early Sunday morn ing. People leaving the dance dis covered the blaze and a large crowd soon gathered. The house burned down quickly. No one has lived in the house for a number of years. It is not known how it caught fire. Mrs. Martha Titus, who has been in Portland for several weeks, re turned home Friday. Eldon Wilson from La Grande spent Sunday in Boardman. Early Monday morning Mrs. E. W. Peck, Mrs. Robert Wilson and sons, El don and Dallas, motored to Port land where they attended the Dempsey fight Monday evening. They returned home Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Eck Warren of Ar lington were guests at a lovely din ner Sunday at the Ves Attebury home. Mrs. Shannon and Mrs. Lilly went to Weiser, Idaho, last week to attend the funeral services of Mrs. Shannon's nephew. They re turned nome sunaay. Mrs. Denson went to La Grande Monday for a short stay. Her daughter, Ethel Herndon of La Grande, will leave soon for Salt Lake city where she will enter the university and take a five-year course in surgical nursing. The school budget, which was voted on at a special election last Wednesday in the school house, carried by a vote of 15-0. Mrs. M. L. Morgan spent four days in Portland last week. Mrs. Morgan and her two sons will stay in Boardman this winter with Mrs. Morgan's mother, Mrs. Weston. Miss Hattie Schultz, Mrs. Guy Barlow, Mrs. Claud Coats, and Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Barlow were Pen dleton shoppers last Thursday. Noel Klitz is home from La Grande where he has been working during the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Baker and son Har old spent the week-end in Meach am visiting with relatives. Mr. and Mr3. Several extra men are working on the highway this week getting it ready for the heavy traffic that comes during the Round-Up. Old friends of the Falers from Pennsylvania, Mr. Dayson and his daughter and four grandchildren, stopped over one night at the Chan ning home last week. They have been in Portland for the past two months and were on their way home when they stopped in Board man. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Johnson and Rachel were Pendleton visitors Sat urday. Leo Disbough spent the week end in Spokane. C. R. Packard of Seattle is vis iting at the home of his brother. Leslie Packard. Noel Klitz and Buster Rands mo tored to North Powder Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Royal Rands were hosts at a lovely dinner at their home last Tuesday evening. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Wickland er and family. Mr. and Mrs. Brice Dillabough and family, and Chas. Dillabough. Miss Mable Brown from Ranier is visiting at the Kennedy home this week. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Marschat and son and Mrs. Royal Rands and Donna Jane motored to The Dalles Friday. Glenn Rutherford went to Pen dleton Tuesday where he will ride in the try-outs for the Round-Up. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Price are vis iting this week with their son, A. W. Price. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Berger mo tored to Madras Saturday. Mr. Berger returned home Monday. Mrs. Berger will make a short vis it with her parents and will return home the last of the week. Clar ence Berger from The Dalles is spending a few days in Boardman this week. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Allen and family of La Grande spent the week end in Boardman. IRRIGON MRS. W. C. ISOM. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Jergensmire and little daughter, Betty, of The Dalles visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brace a few days last week. The regular meeting of Irrigon Grange 641 was held in the audi torium Wednesday night. Mrs. George Haskell of Plymouth, Wn., visited Mrs. W. C. Isom Thurs day afternoon. Hugh Grimm, Frank Brace, Mrs. Jess Allen and A. C. Houghton were all business visitors in Hermiston Thursday Ollie Coryell was called to Lyle, Wn., Tuesday by the death of his brother-in-law who was killed by being run over by a truck. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Isom have rented the George Rancier place for the coming year and moved in Tuesday. R. V. Jones motored to Heppner Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. George Rancier and family of Echo were visiting friends in this vicinity Sunday. Mrs. Leola Beavert left Sunday for Bellingham, Wn., to visit her sister, Mrs. Carl Haddox, upon re ceipt of news that a little daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Haddox Saturday. Wiley Benefiel returned home Sunday after spending the summer with his sister in Washington. W. C. Isom returned home Satur day night as the harvest work is finished at Echo where he was em ployed. Barbara Berry of Umatilla is spending this week with her cousin, Mrs. Earl Isom. Billy Markham has a little cousin from Tacoma visiting with her this week. Mrs. Edith Puckett, Mrs. L.
