PAGE THREE BOARDMAN i A number of Eoardman fight fans attended the smoker at Umatilla Friday night. , Bert Richardson, who has been 111 for a number of months, was brought home Friday from Hermis ton where he has been under the care of Dr. Sears. He is quite 111. "The Big Parade," a famous mov ie, was shown in Boardman on Fri day and Saturday nights to good houses. Dr. and Mrs. F. Gunster of The Dalles were recent visitors at the Royal Rands home. Supt. and Mrs. L. E. Marschat were guests at a lovely dinner at the C. S. Calkins home on Monday evening. Erna, the third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolf Skobo, was kicked In the stomach by a horse and knocked unconscious one day last week. She was ill for a few days but is apparently well again. On Thursday, Harry Humphrey, the small son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Humphrey, fell off the wagon and one wheel passed over his leg. It was bruised but not Injured badly. Dr. Donnelly of The Dalles was up recently, a guest at the Sanders home. Mr. and Mrs. W. O. King, her father, Mr. Fagg, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Price and Mr. and Mrs. J. F. CSorham and Miss Alice Falk were guests Thursday evening at the Hereim's. Five hundred was play ed. Mrs. W. A. Price and her commit tee entertained Wednesday at the regular Silver tea at the Price home. The house was prettily dec orated with white lilacs, tulips and Iris and had yellow and white streamers from the chandiller to each corner of the room. The same color scheme of yellow and white predominated in the luncheon room and dainty yellow and white nut cups were given as favors. Hostess es: Mesdames Price, Allen, Fllck Inger; Boardman, and Kunzie. Mrs. Kunzie was unable to be present at the meeting. Mrs. Jess Allen Is pleased to have her mother, Mrs. Kelly of Clear water, Neb., with her for a visit The church was crowded to ca pacity Sunday evening, May 6, at the annual baccalaureate services. The progrma was as follows: hymn, congregation; Invocation, Rev. A. D. Swogger; hymn, congregation; selection, high school quartette; sermon, Rev. G. G. Price of Pen dleton; hymn; benediction. This has been a busy week with various school activities. The sen iors have been much feted. A plea sant party was that given Wednes day night at the teachers' cottage with the faculty members honoring the seniors. '"Bug" 'was the eve ning's diversion and is an hilarious and exciting game. Nice refresh ments were served. Present were the faculty members, Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Calkins, Mr. Z. J. Gillespie and Mrs. W. O. King and Mrs. L. E. Marschat, and members of the sen ior class. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Gross arrived home Monday morning from a plea snnt motor trip to Spokane where they went on both business and pleasure. They were absent a week. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Imus stayed on the ranch during their absence. Howard Ellis has purchased a classy little Ford roadster. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Mefford were up from Portland over the week end. Honoring Miss Ethel Beougher and Miss Ellen Henry, both of whom have been of much help in the Sunday school and church giv ing freely of their time and talents, the Sunday school teachers gave a sumptuous chicken dinner Sunday at the J. R. Johnson home. Seated at the beautifully appointed table were Mrs. S. H. Boardman, Sunday school superintendent, Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Messenger, Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Calkins, assistant superintendent, Mr. and Mrs. Jess M. Allen and Mrs. Kelly, mother of Mrs. Allen, Rev. A. D. Swogger and family, the Johnsons and the honorees. Miss Beougher who has been the popular home economics teacher here for the past three years, has been faith ful in assisting in the church work all during her stay. She goes to Toledo, Ore., next year and Board man's loss will be Toledo's gain, as she takes an active part in com munity and church and Sunday school as well as being a very ca pable teacher. C. G. Wagner of The Dalles has been buying wool on the project. Donna Jean Rands has been sick with what, was feared was Trench Mouth. " Mrs. E. B. Richardson and daugh ter Viola of Salem spent several days at the Bert Richardson home last week. The Montague crew sheared sheep at the Johnny McNamee ranch last week. " Mr. and Mrs. Roy Howell and baby and Mr. and Mrs. Vaughnan Keyes and baby are visitors at the Royal Rands home. Honoring Mrs. J. A. Marlow, mo ther of Mrs. Dan Ransier and Will iam Henry, the youngest son of the Ransier's, an elaborate family dinner was enjoyed at the Ransier home. Present were Mrs. Marlow, Roy Marlow, Naomi Bradley, Frank Marlow, Mary Lu Hartle, Mrs. Otho Stoll and four daughters, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Thurman and daughter. Mrs. W. H. Mefford entertained at a chicken dinner Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Mefford and family of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Ma comber and baby of Condon, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Root and Vernon and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Barlow. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Mefford made a business trip to Heppner Monday and while there tobk dinner with Mrs. Ralph Marlatt, Mrs. Mefford's niece. O. Hines was a week-end visitor at The Dalles. RHEA CREEK. The Wright Bros., Orin and Deb, have taken their sheep to the moun tains to the George Wright place. The Ray Wright family spent last Sundy In the mountains at the home of Glen Farrens. Next Sunday being Grange day a Mother's Day program will be giv en. All grange mothers should make an effort to be present After having been in bed all last week from the after effects of the flu, Walter Wright is now able to be up some of the time. Tom Craig1 was In the city Sat urday from his farm out north of lone. Mr. Craig was closing up a deal for a quarter section of land adjoining his home place. This piece of land now has a fine crop of wheat on it and Mr. Craig pur chased it at a bargain price as the crop will go far toward paying the entire cost of the land. Mrs. W. O. Livingstone of Hood River was a guest over Sunday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Huston, having been called to Hardman on Monday to conduct the funeral of Grandma Warren. , Pat Lonergan, of Portland, was a visitor in Heppner on Wednesday.
