LOCAL HEWS HEMS John Wrjrhtnunn drove Mrs. Ida Dutton and Mrs. Delia Hallock to Portland on Friday, and then took time to visit hia son and daughter who are students at 0. A. C. at Cor vallis. He returned home Wednesday morning. Harold Van Horn, who was serious ly injured recently in an accident at hia Blackhorse farm, and who has been confined at the Heppner Surgi cal hospital, is now greatly improved. though still in a critical condition. A real estate deal recently com pleted in the city involved the trans fer of the Guy Boyer residence prop rety to C. L. Sweek. Mr. Sweek's resi dence adjoins the Boyer property. Consideration was not named. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Fellers of lone are the proud parents of an 8-pound daughter, born to them at Morrow General hospital in this city on Nov. 10th. The little lady has been named Iva May. Miss Marguerite Loughney of Ta- coma, sister of Mrs. Walter Moore, is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Moore in this city, where she will be a guest for two weeks. The ladies of the Episcopal church will hold their Christmas baiaar at the parish house on Saturday, Decern ber 3rd. They will also conduct cooked food sale at this time. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Barr return ed home on Monday from Portland and Mt. Verun, Wash., at which points they have been vuiting for the past two weeks. Buhn's big sale comes to a close Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Krebs returned Saturday from Portland where they spent a couple of weeks visiting rel atives and taking in the livestock show. Lon McCabe was a visitor in the city today from his home on Rhea creek, where he says everything is just plenty wet right now. While playing yesterday, little Al bert McFerrin was struck over the eye with a baseball bat, necessitat ing several stitches to close the wound. Kenneth Warner, 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Warner of Lex ington, had his tonsils removed un dre local anesthetic at the hands of Dr. McMurdo Saturday. Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Ed wards at the old Slocum mill, Nov. 11,- 1927, a daughter. Dr. McMurdo reports all doing well. Buhn's big sale comes to a close Saturday night. W. T. Matlock, former Morrow county sheepman, is a visitor here to day. Mr. Matlock has been in Mon tana during the past year, where he was running sheep on government range. F. A. McMenamin, Portland attor ney, is here today to attend the fu neral of the late F. A. Stapleton. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cohn are spend ing a short time in Portland this week. Dean T. Goodman will be in Seattle over the week end to visit his son, Dean Jr., and take in the Oregon Washington football classic. I -c PERSONALS. Several of the teachers in the Heppner school were gone over the week end. Mr. Von Lubken spent the week-end in Portland. Miss Wilson journeyed to Morgan and Miss Wright to Portland. Miss Pearson went to Eugene to see the homecoming game and Miss Thorpe, and Miss Benne hoff were in Baker. Pat Mahoney spent the week-end visiting Marjorie Clark in Eugene. While there, she took in the home coming game. ' An item of interest to others as well as to members of the student body is that Ellis Thomson, an ar dent movie fan, contemplates going to Portland to see Mae Murray, fa mous movie star, in person. Ellis states that for various reasons Ms trip was postponed, so he decided he would stay home and see Anne Mur ray instead. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Beighle spent the week-end in Condon visiting Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Mr. Smith was the eighth grade teacher in Heppner school last year. While in Condon Mr. Johnson also made arrangements for the championship game to be played between Condon and Heppner. This game will be played at Hepp ner, Saturday, Nov. 19. Elizabeth Elder, former student of Heppner high, was a visitor in Hepp ner. bile came as a delegate from Umapine to the Christian Endeavor convention held in this city. Mr. Johnson chose the following four girls to sell Red Cross member ship tickets on Armistice Day: Har riet Morgan, Margaret Smith, Velton Owenand Hazel McDaid. The tickets they sold, when totaled, amounted to $98.50. o BOOSTER PARADE ABANDONED.
