Parker, accompanied by Rev. Bower and Mr. Crawford, on Friday last, came to my residence. Rev. Parker had a letter and tried to hand it to me. I de clined to take the letter, as he said, "it is a challenge to you from Rev. Phelps to debate on the platform." I positively and absolutely refused to do this. I did not want to give no toriety to Rev. Phelps, nor to make him important, and most of all, I did not want to lower the sacredness of the Word of God to the level of the platform. But I accepted to discuss the question, in the cold, black print ed columns of the Oregonian. Rev. Bower replied, "The Oregonian won't print it." I said, "We shall try." Mr. Crawford then spoke up and said, "I will be fair, I will print it." "Thank you," said j, "Here is a go." "Oh, No! No! No!" said Rev. Parker, "not the press." And out he goe3. Af terwards I sent a special delivery let ter to Rev. Parker to this effect. "I am more than willing to take up the matter in the press." No answer. FATHER CANTWELli. WANTS 1927 BABY CHIX 1927.
