S Crane, near this city, was attractively decorated on Sunday for the wedding of their daughter, Miss Grace Lee Crane to Mr. William Henry Brayton. - Green and white were the colors of the verr pretty decoration scheme ar ranged for the nuptials and the work was admirably executed. E-pecially beautiful was the bower under which the couple stood while plighting their troth before Heaven and the oiliciating minister the Rev. W, L. Gaston, pastor of the First Baptist church of this city. The bower was a hands we creation in ferns and flowers of the prevailing col ors. There were no attendants. At the hour named the grcom stepped beneath the bower and was joined a moment later by the pretty and pouular girl who was escorted to her place by her father. Mrs. Lilian Kellogg played Mendel sohn's '"Wedding March," and during the exchanging of the vows, played tweet and low, the hymnal "Call Thee Mine Own." The bride was handsomely gowned in white silk, prvttily trimmed with lace. In her hand she carried a shower boquet of carnations and asparagus fern. The wedding breakfast was an elabo rate one, the menu being made up of many courses. The table settings were very attractive in Sowers and dainty sprays of green. The bride was the recipient of a large number of valuable and useful gifts sent by relatives and friends form far and near. Her going away gown was a grey, tailor made. The couple left for their honeymoon in the afternoon, and choee a driving tour. Frcm here they will driv to the groom's ranch in Men docino county, and upon their return will reside in Santa Rosa, where Mr. Brayton holds a responsible oeition as bookkeeper with the Haven Hardware Company. The bride comes of one of the oldest pioneer families in the county Both she and the man of her choice have many friends ho isu them a life of. much happiness and prosperity. Sansa Rosa (Cal.) Paper. Miss Crane was a former resident of Morrow county, where she has many friends who wish her wA. pecially to the Oregon Laud A Water Company, whose big ditches carry water to the new settlements, says the E. O. Before the rain much of the sandy land through w hich the ditches were built permitted a heavy seepage of the water in passing from the rivei to the land to be irrigated, and a very laige amount of wa'er has always been start ed into the head of the ditches in order to get a proper amount on the land. Fu ly 25 per cent of the water iu the ditches was lost in leepage, because of the sand. This condition has been changed by the rain, as the floods washed an enor mous amount of silt and so l into the sandy ditches, and made them water tight. Since the rain the ditches have been carrying their full measure of water over their entire length, and the benfits to the water users and ditch com par.y has been incalculable. It would have taken years of wash to accomplish what lias been dot e by this ore rain No amount of ."puddling" could ac complish so complete a job as the sud den filling of the ditches with wish silt from the hills, and instead of damaging the property of the irrigon company it has added thouFands of dollars to the value of their land and ditches. year's wheat crop. The entire plan of the opposition to the portage road, seems to be to delay the matter of se curing right of way, and as the commis sion was organ Wed for the purpose of hurrying up the road, it will ask the assistance of the courts and the people in getting quick action. Cured of Chronic Dlarrhoaa Af ter j Tan Years of Suffering. "I wish to say a few words in praise of Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Dianhoea Remedy," says Mrs. Burge, of Martiuville, Va. "I suffered from chrnlc diarrhoea for ten years and dur ing that time tried various medicines without obtaing any permanent relief. Last summer one of my children was taken with cholera morbus, and I pro cured a bottle of this remedy. Only two doses were required to give her entire relief. I then decided to try the medi cine myself, and did not use all of one bottle before I was well and I have never since been troubled with that complaint. One cannot say too much in favor of that wonderful medicine." For sale by Slocutn Drug Co. ftV ' OVERSTOCKED We arc closing out, for tho next 30 days, Hen's, Hoys' and Youfhs Clothing at cost. Before the government will accept t! e Malheur irrigation project known s the Harper Basin si-Lexe, the citizen' of that county must o'ganize un l secure all the possible water right necessary to the construction of the scheme, from private parties and make the way clear for the government in oiher ways. Tbii is the gist of information given out to Mal'ieur citizens by F. Newell, cheif hydrographer, and Morris Bein, his chief legal advisor, who have re cently visited the Harper Bat in project on a' tour of inspection. Following the advice of Mr. Newell, a Water Users' Association will be formed for the pur ose of acquiring water rights and removing difficulties now in the way of the construction of the proposition. The people of the county are enthu siastic over the prospects and have no fears that the government will abandon the plan, as the wishes of the engineers will be complied with in every detail, so far as lies in the power of the united people. almost every nome Detore me summer is FarnswortU.
