Although the Portuguese discovered the wonderful hurbor of Itlo, It was a group of French Huguenots that In VM first settled there. The Porto guese settlement thnt become Hlo de Janeiro was made by a force of sol diers under Kstnclo de Sa the same year, with the Intention of expelling the French colonists. From It F.starlo de Sa went forth In l-Vtt for a final and victorious battle with the French and their Indian allies, but In the strug gle he wss mortally wounded.
