John Banister Tabb LONE TREE FARMERS ' UNAJQUS No Bond Issue for Them They Say A meeting of farmers was held In Lone Tree school house last Saturday night for the purpose f discussing the proposed $500' 000.00 road bond issue. Every one present was oppos ed to the issue for two main rea sons: 1st, that it is inadvisable under present hard conditions to vote bonds, thereby adding taxes to the bresent heavy burden 2nd that the amount aloted to this district is insufficient to com plete the lone-Board man road and that in the near future another issue will be needed to finish it and tne others too. ; It was eontneded by many that they were unable to pay tueir taxes under present conditions and that it is not only poor bus iness to incresse them. Others coutended that the a mounts alloted to the various dis tricts was merely a bait to pais the isue for the purpose of com pleting the highways thst lead to Heppner. The meeting bassed resolutions eondemingthe boud issue and all drerent agreed to use their inflnence to befeat the measure.
