Hospital Mer'ical School, has
been summoned into a magis
trate'a court to defend himself
against a chare of cruelty to
animals, it bo ng alleged that
these abuses wore perpetrated in
the course o ' experiments in
vivisection. Investigators from
the Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals, detailed to
observe the methods practiced,
forcibly rescueJ cix of the one
hundred dogs wl ich it is admit
ted have been impounded for
purposes of experimentation.
It is insisted, in extenuation of
the alleged offense, that the
animals subjected to the experi
ments are unlicensed dogs, or
strays, which are homeless and
without protection. The Manufacturer.

Mr. Samuel Simpson arrived
in lone on Thursday and took
Thanksgiving dinner at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Parkins. Mr.
Simpson is a former teacher in
the high Bchool at lone and is
now teaching in the new Grant
high school at Portland.
Mrs. Jordan is spending a few
days in Portland this week.
Fred Pettyjohn was unlucky
enough to kill a sheep while
driving down the grade near Fay
Pettyjohn's place last Monday.
