Nov. 7, 1924 MORGAN LIFE Mr. and Mrs, J. A. Harbkeleft for Portland Weri nesday morning. R. E. Harbison is busy discing and seeding his farm. "Morgan was visited by another of those delightful wind and dust storms last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Noah Pettyjohn went to Heppner on business last Tuesday. . The family of Ben Morgan is quarantined for chicken pox. The last reports are that Virgil Morgan is improving. Mrs. E. Cochran and Frank Turner were calling in Morgan last Wednesday in . the interests of the Red Cross. Bob Balcomb is back in Morgan for a few days. Rev's. Martin and Cook spent Wednesday evening with H. 0. Ely and family. Art Cogswell and Bert Pal lueteer were busy hauling wood last Friday. Several of the parents anu friends visited Morgan school last Friday and were very well pleased with the program given by the children and teachers. Mrs. Irene D. Waldo and three children, of Portland, were visit ing friends in Morgan last Sun day. Mrs. Waldo has been visiting Mrs. Lundell at Rhea Siding for the past two weeks, She spent several years teaching in Morrow and Gilliam counties. She left for Portland on Monday to be ready to vote Nov. 4. Mrs. Shurte visited Morgan school on Friday. Mr, H. 0. Ely and son have built a woodshed on their farm near Morgan. Bert Palmeteer and Mr. H. 0. Ely took in the ball game at Lexington last Saturday, Miss Thelma Morgan and Miss Cleta Palmeteer were calling on Eudora Hardesty Sunday after noon. The Misses Cleta Palmatcer Gertrude Pettyjohn, and Eudora Hardesty spent the week end at their homes, returning to school on Monday morning. 'The only question that remained to be settled In Cali fornia Tuesday night was the extent of the majority for Calvin Coolldge. A tabulation based ou Incomplete reports from El of the ES counties gave Coolldge 309,897, La Follette 140.63S, Davis 31,132, Faris E188. Senator La Follette appeared to have carried only 11 eountlea, al though seven other smaller counties had not been beard from when the foregoing figures were tabulated. Los Angeles. President Coolldge will carry Los Angeles county by be tween 175,000 and :00,000 votes, It was asserted here by William W, Kerr, acting registrar ot voters. Davis Congratulates Coolldge. Washington, D. C John W. Davis Wednesday congratulated Fresldeot Coolldge oa bis election to the presi dency. "Permit me to congratulate you,' Mr. Davis telegraphed, "on your sweeping victory and to express tbe hope that your administration may by Us success Inure to the welfare of the country." Brookhart, to whom most ot Iowa's political leaders had, before the election, conceded a com paratively easy victory, appeared on the face of unofficial returns to have been accomplished by Daniel F.
