Miss Tilsoh has resumed work with the Camp Fire girls, the initial meeting of the season being held at the Christian church last Friday evening. The Union Christian Endeavor Society meets Sunday evening the 28t,h inst., at the Baptist church, Meetings of the Dorcas Society of the Congregational church are now held regularly in the church parlor, every Thursday after noon. The Sunday school at Fairview schoolhouse will reopen the first Sunday in October, for the fall and winter term. Mrs. Lieuallan is the superintendent. There will be regular services at the Baptist church, Sunday the 28th inst., Rev. E. B. John son officiating. The annual conference of Congregational churches for the state of Oreg n convenes at Salem, the 29th of this month, for B' three day session, The Congregational church of lone will "be represented by Wendell" Balaiger and pastor Head. The C. E. Society of the Christian church has projected a social for the evening of Oct. 1 and has extended an invitation to all endeavorers in lone to join in the festivities. The place of meeting is the basement of the Christian church. The Independent will appreci ate the receipt of news items of the churches and Sunday schools of lone and vicinity. Oddfellows Celebrate Thursday evening of this week Rnbeccasand Oddfellows of lone celebrated the seventy third anniversary of the institution ,of the Rebecca branch of the order. The meeting was held at the lone Oddfellows hall and was attended by a number of mem bers from nearby lodges. After a short address on the origin and spirit 'of the order by tha pastor of the Congregational church a very pleasant social time was passed, and at the close refresh menta were served. Mr. Balldork, State Engineer, arrived Thursday morning to inspect the survey on the Go?e berry Market road, leaving on Thursday afternoon. Mr. Balch moved away from Morgan about rive years ago, after living there about two years. The Misses Arlene and Helen Balsiger departed.
