DRY TREATMENT BEST
Wheat smut haa yielded to
control by copper carbonate dust,
according to investigations bv
the experiment station. The
cost, the labor and the risk are
less than fof treatment with
liquid bluestoneor formaldehyde.
Fewer seeds are damaged by the
chemicals and hence one-fourth
less seed is ample for a good
stand. The plants germinate
better under unfavorable condi
tions of drouth and emerge much
stronger and more vigorous.

should appreciate the privilege
extended to him, and treat his
hostess, dame Nature, with due
consideration and refrain from
burning the roof over her head.
