Ambrose Chapin of Coquitle, Oregon, accompanied by Miti set Odile and May Grosheni and Paul Hiiler of Portland, arrived at Heppner Tuesday to visit for tha re mainder of the week with their rela tives here. Mr. and Mrs. Chapin are on their honeymoon trip and they were joined by the other members of the party at Portland. They are guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John McCullough while in the city. Mrs. Chapin was formerly Miss Mar guerite Ilisler of this city. Harley Adkins of Aberueen, Waih., has the thanks of the editor for a beautiful picture of the great airship, Shenandoah, caught just ai she was leaving the mooring mast at Camp Lewis, on her recent visit to the northwest. The people of Grays Har bor had the pleasure of seeing the ship as she flew over that section and Mr. Adkins states that it was a sight not soon to be forgotten. Mr. and Mrs. J. E, Lawronce of Portland, accompanied by Mrs. C. E. Wilson of Pienele, Mont., motored in from Portland on Thursday evening last and were guests during the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cay M. Anderson. The ladies are sisters of Mrs. Anderson. They departed for their respective homes Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Barratt re turned on Monday from Portland. They spent the past week in the city attending the stock show and enjoy ing a visit with relatives. While there Mr. Barratt purchased Ave head of thoroughbred cattle which will be used to Improve the herd on the Bar-' ratt ranch. Mrs. S. E. NoUon and daughter, Mitts Mary Notson, returned on Sat urday from Seattle, where they have been for the past several months dur ing the very serious illness of Miss Notson. Miss Notson is now slowly recovering and the Eastern Oregon sunshine is proving quite beneficial. Fred Raymond was in the city Monday forenoon from his ranch south of Jordan Siding. He is pre paring to put on a turkey shoot at the Raymond farm on Sunday, at which time there will be plenty of grain-fed turkeys and geese offered as prizes to the participants. A. R. Leedy, G. A. Hamaker and F. M. DcNeffe were Portland attor neys in the city the end of the week. Mr, Leedy and Mr. Hamaker were attorneys for Emmet Cochran nd Mr. DeNefTe for Mrs. Cochran In the Cochran vs. Cochran divorce case, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Finley of Al pine were visitors in Heppner on Thursday last. Mr. Finley reports good rains over that part of the coun ,ty and the grain that was in the ground is coming up welt. He had not finished his seeding yet. E. S. Duran, who was made justice of the peace at Lexington as a result of the recent election, was a visitor in Heppner on Saturday. Ed will be known as Judge Duran, following his induction into office the first of Jan uary. C. W. McNamer underwent a ser ious and painful operation at the Heppner Surgical hospital during the pant week. At this time he ii report ed to be getting along well and should be out of the hospital before many days. Judge Gilbert W. Phelpn and Court Reporter Beckwith were in the city on j Thursday and Friday to attend to their official duties at an adjourned ; term of the circuit court. They drove 1 over from Pendleton In the judge's ! car. Clarence E. Medlork and Cecil Marie Dempsey were Morrow county' young people married at Arlington on the first of November, license having been issued to them from the office of Clerk Anderson. Mrs. 01 He Riggs and daughter, Mrs. John Anderson of Beaver ton, Ore gon, are guests this week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Morse in this city. Mrs. Riggs is the mother of Mrs. Morse. W. J. Gil strap of Eugene, repre sentative of the Bible University of that city, was an over-Sunday visitor in Heppner. He preached both morning and evening at the Christian church. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson visited Portland laBt week and took in the big stock show. After spending sev eral days in the city they Teturned home on Saturday. Jack Matlock, who has been making his home for some time at Pendleton, came over from that city on Thurs day last for a visit with relatives and friends here. K. K. Mahoney and wife returned from Portland on Monday. They spent a few days in the metropolis taking in the big stock show. Attorney Sam E. Van Vactor was up from The Dalles at the end of the week to attend to some business be fore the circuit court here. Dock Brown, a prominent resident of Condon, spent a day or two in Heppner this week, looking after af fairs of business. Wanted To lease large stock ranch in Grant county, stocked to sheep or cattle.
