Jack Hynd at Butterby Flats. A. Troedson from his ranch near lone was calling in Cecil on Friday and says Morgan will have to wake up and get busy for he sees some improvement in Cecil every time he calls, but he didn't see a corner stone laid for the county' seat in Cecil, yet. Mrs. Bob Roberts was called on Wed nesday from her parent's home at Lone Star ranch where she was visiting, to her husbard in Spokane, who was lying seriously injured by his airplane taking fire on his journey to Spokane. Mr. and Mrs. A. Henriksen of Willow Creek ranch who autoed to Portland some time ago returned home on Wed nesday. A. H. was delighted with the results of the sale of his cattle when in Portland. Miss Ehtyl Davis of Portland arrived in Cecil on Saturday and was the week end guest of Miss Minnie H. Lowe be fore leaving for Morgan where she will spend her vacation at the home of Fred Ely. Misses Bessie Yocum and Isabel Wil son of Heppner accompanied by several of their friends visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Funk at Morsel near Cecil on Sunday. Miss Ester Logan of Fourmile left on Monday for Portland where she will vis it with her grandmother for a short time before returning to her studies at lone high school. Herbert Hynd, Misses Annie Hynd and Mildred Henriksen and several other friends were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. N. Lee at their home at Alderdale on Sunday. Traffic officer Lieuallen was seen in the Cecil district on Tuesday but wheth er arresting speedsters or heart break ers is not known at the time of writing. Mrs. Iota Bauernfiend and son Martin who have been visiting in Morgan called on their Cecil friends on Thursday be fore leaving for their horn at Corbett." Road work is going ahead near the county line. A little while longer and we will soon be able to use the new roBd through to Heppner Junction. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards and daughter and Miss Gladys Medlock all of Morgan were calling on Mr. J. W. Osborn on Friday. Editor S. A. Pattison of the Herald was calling on his friends in the Cecil district on Wednesday and Thursday. Miss Dsns Logan of Cecil spent Wed nesday and Thursday with Miss Pat Ma- honey at Butterby Flats. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Streeter and family visited with Mr. and Mrs. J. Hardesty at Morgan on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Henriksen of Straw berry ranch were doing business in Ar lington on Saturday. Misses Doris and Pat Mahoney of Heppner are spending a few days at Butterby Flats. Mrs. Geo. Krebs of The Last Camp spent the week-end with friends in Ar lington. Slats' Diary. By ROSS FARQUHAR.
