Return to A. O. PIEPER. tt Oil Well Will Go Down Soon. According to the Hermlston Herald, It is expected that the drilling for oil in that vicinity will begin about Oc tober 1st. A driller Is expected on the field by the first of Sepetmber, and shortly after this date it 1b hoped that sufficient shares of stock will have been disposed of to start up the machinery. The Hermlston paper states further: "Mr. Archibald, an oil man of 31 years experience, looked the field over a few weeks ogo and said this country looked more like an oil country than any he had ever seen before drilling commen oed. Mr. Archibald, who is now in Cas per, Wyoming, Is known to some of the old-timers in Tendleton, who Mr. Leon ard says, will vouch for his integrity. .V. D. Swearingen of the Pendleton hotel has known him for 30 years." J. E.
