Harold Ahalt left on Saturday for Toppenish. with horses which hT been sold to Bob Mont.igrue of that place, A larpe band of sheep belonging to Smythe Bros, passed through Cecil on Tuesday on their way to their summer range, "Mayor- "Deputy Mayor" and "Chief Constable" are all safely at their duties once more and peace reigns at last in our town. Eric Taldon of Mollala, Ore, has arrived in Cecil and will assist with the hay making on Willow Creek ranch for A. Renrlksen. Miss Ester Logan of Four Mile left for lone on Friday where she will spend her vacation with her aunt Mra Fred Buchanan. Mr. and Mra A. L. Troedson and par ty of friends from the lone district were travellers over t. Cecil scenic highway on Tuesday. Mr. and Mra Geo. Hardesty and fam ily, accompanied by Mr. Gorton, all from Morgan, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mra H. J. Streeter. Leon Logan and family, also Mm Hate! Logan and family of Four Mile, i ana miss Olive Logan of Portland spent Monday in Arlington. Mra. Mary Nash arrived'at the home of Leon Logan at Four Mile on Monday and will visit all her old friends before leturning to her home in Beavcrton. Keith Logan, student of Hennner high school, arrived In Cecil on Satur-! aay and will assist his father during his vacation at his ranch at Fairview. Mr. and Mra R. J. Winter of Four Mile returned to their ranch after spending four or Ave weeks amongst their friends at Hood River, Portland and Yakima. Mrs, J. D. Kropp and daughters, and Ir. and Mrs. Gallaher, all from their homes In Portland, spent Eanday and Monday visiting among their friends ia Tentville at Cecil. J. H. Crane, manager of the Ore-gon-Hassam Paving company of Port land, was In Cecil on Tuesday over looking the work which his company Is doing on the highway. New Rates on Shipping Sheep Are Not Generally Understood ' The Farm Bureau sheep committee "w hich has been working on a reduction of rates for shipping sheep to summer pasture two months ago secured a very generous reduction as it had been promised them by the railroad company. The rates have been increased twenty-rive percent since last year but the reduction which has been secured by the harm Bureau sheep committee am ounts to sufficient to leave the old rate in operation. There la some deviation from this but this is practically what it amounts to. The rates to points this side o" Rivu let. Montana and Wallula, are: Pen dleton. :5: Echo, 1111.50; Arlington, 5115; Condon. J127; Heppner. Jl!7. The same tariff also gives a reduction from Wallowa shipping point of twenty per cent of the existing tariff. Those present were: Mr. and Mra J. J. bnckner, Mra Henry Blahm. the Misses Elisabeth, Marie and Martha Mahtn and Willie l!lahnf of Walla Wal la. Mr. and Mra J. J. Wightman and daughter Anna, Mr. and Mra Ed Clark, Mr. and Mra Adam Blahm. the Messra 1- red Blahm, Harvey O. Bauman, Wal ter and Earl Evans, Merle Saxe, and Rufus Pieper, Mr. and Mra John Pieper, Mr. and Mis. A. G. Pieper and Master Bert Morey. Music, singing, and the playing of numerous games were the main fea tures of the evening. At 11:30 p. m lunch consisting of sandwiches, ice cream and cake was served. After lunch, all departed for home declaring that they had a very pleasant evening. ONE WHO KNOWS. I Mat Halvorsen, who grows a lot of I wheat in the lone section, was In Hepp i ner Wednesday. Ed Rietmann, another big wheat raiser of that section was also here, accompanied by .lohan Troed son. his neighbor. Mr. Troedson states that they did not get much of the rain that visited the county on Monday, as It hit out that way in showera that did not cover much territory. However, grain Is all looking fine, is headed out and just a few short weeks of the : right kind of maturing weather and the ' crop will be made and the yield will 'he good. REPRESENTATIVE WANTED F.
