ATLANTA, Ga. Four farmer boys without any agricultural
scbool training will make a trip to Europe, the reward which goes
with the winning of the International Stock Judging championship
in south and southeastern competition here. This non-college team
came from far off Texas, winning over teams from all parts of the
country including college-trained men. The Texas team finished
with 3110 points against 2965 by the Mississippi team which was
second. The Texas team were all members of Boys' Club and were
coached by Cy W Evans and W B. Cook of the Texa3 Extension
Service from the state college The trip will be first to the Royal
Stock Show at London then to the agricultural districts of France,"
Holland, Belgium and Isles of Jersey and Guernsey This is the
highest honors ever conferred upon farmer boys in this country.

lied Cross aided 423.SSS adults and 101,
755 children in Europe.
Fifteen hundred new members were
added to the life-saving service of the
lied Cross last year.

uniform method of nursing in connec
tion with the Red Cross. i
Last year the Red Cross aided more
than 30,000 victims of unavoidable dis
aster in 150 communities.
Intensive influenza instruction has
been general throughout the North
western Division during the last yea.
Since demobilization the Red Cross
has kept In constant touch with famil
ies of 800,000 soldiers, sailors and ma-1
rlnes.
The management cost at National
Headquarters and at the fourteen Di
visions is less than four percent of the
total expenditures.
The Hed Cross has identified and
photographed the graves of more than
."i.Oi'O American soldiers, and has sent
r.s.ono of these records to relatives and
friends.
In less than twenty minutes after
the September explosion In Wall Street
over seventy-five Red Cross nurses and
thirty-five field directors were assist
ing the stricken.
Last year the United States spent
$10.00 per capita protecting and de
veloping the health of the nation.
Following the explosion in Wall
Street in September, thousands of rela
tives received prompt information from
the lists of dead and wounded pre
pared by the Red Cross.
Nearly forty of the 108 chapters of
the Northwestern Division already have
established Home Service work, and In
many others plans for its extension are
being considered.
Over 1,000 public health nurses have
been furnished to American coinmun
itles by the Red Cross as leaders in
health education and for Instruction In
sanitation and hygiene.
More than 15,000 American commu
nities during lust year received Red
Cross aid In the adoption of precau
tionary measures against disease and
disaster or In mitigating suffering,

1919, the Junior Red Cross made more
than 15,000,000 articles with a total
value of more thauJIO, 000,000, and con
trtbuted nearly 14,000,00 in cash.
Of all the babies now alive in the
United States, one in ten will die be

to close her chicken house door last
Sunday evening, says the Condon Globe
Times, she was surprised to Unci a
coyote about to enter. The animal
made a hasty exit and has not been
seen since. It would be well, the Globe
Times continues, for people to guard
their chicken houses when coyotes are
daring enough to come right into the

The Shasta Limited of pre-war days
