This plated equipment was first turned out in 1912 for local trade among doctors and dentists, but the distributing field has steadily reach ed into other portions of the United States and Canada. Albany, Ore. With evergreen blackberries no longer regarded by the farmers as a pest, preparations are being made to handle at least 500 tons of the fruit at the Albany can nery this season. The presidential election has been given precedence this year in planning for the annual food show held at the armory by Portland merchants and the date has been moved up to the week following November 4. The es tablishment here, known as the Sphagnum Products Company, has just been reorganized and the con trolling stock and active manage ment has been taken over by V. S. Clothes Bleach Company, that concern has found it necessary to expand its equipment and put out its preparation for re tail trade. It, is one of the city's newest manufacturing companies. Portland, Ore. Even Alaska is sending representatives to this city to take part in the eighth annual Buyers' Week beginning Monday. Between 1S00 and 2000 people from all points of the northwest are ex pected. Hood River, Ore. Estimates on the apple crop for this year have taken another jump in the past two weeks and it is now thought the har vest will be 65 per cent of the one in 1919.
