John and Dan McDevitt, progres sive farmers north of lone, brought np a new White truck fom Portland the last of the week. W. R. Irwin returned the last of the week from Rockaway where he spent some time with his family at their summer cottage, Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Huston and children John and Elizabeth left on Tuesday in their car on a vacation trip to Portland and Albany. Emmett Cochran and Mrs. Nel Welch and children of Heppner pass ed through town Wednesday on their way to Ritter. Long Creek Ranger. Maris, director of the col lege extension service, went to Port land to attend the wedding ot his brother Homer Marts, an O. A. Anderson of this city, twho have been enjoying a visit to Mr. Anderson's old home in Aberdeen, South Dakota, are now headed west and expect to he back in Heppner in a few days, according to a card received this week from Mr. Anderson. They are making the re turn trip over the Yellowstone trail. James William Hui'kaby. James William Iluckaby'was born in Macon county, Missouri, October 7, 1847. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walter Ktlcup in Jones canyon on Saturday, July 17, 1920. He is survived by three .daughters, Mrs: W. W. Ktlcup. Mrs. Roy Brown, both of near Hepp ner and Mrs. P. J. O'Reilly of San Francisco. The funeral was held from the Kll cup home on Monday, the service be ing conducted by the Rev. W. O. Liv ingstone of Heppner. FIRST CHRISTIAN' CHURCH July 2.1. The usual morning and evening services will be held. In the morn ing at ten o'clock will be held the Bible school, a graded school with a place for everyone, with competent instructors. Following this at eleven o'clock is the Communion service and then the preaching service. The theme for Sunday morning will be "How to Double the Preacher's Pow er." The evening service will begin with the Christian Endeavor service at sev en o'clock, and this will be follow ed with song service and preaching at eight o'clock. Theme for the eve ning sermon will be "Sowing and Reaping."' Everyone is most cordial ly Invited to attend all of these ser vices.
