Representative P. J. Gallagher, and
his partner. Mr. Brooke, attorneys at
Ontario, have filed notice on the
board of directors of the intention of
the Pacific Livestock Company who
previously had much of the land con

Judge Bean in the condemnation suit,
' tried in Portland not long ago, and
was decided favorably to the irriga
tion district.
The case will be watched with in
terest by all irrigation districts.
The Athena State Itank is asking
for bids for the construction of a new
modern banking home. The estimat
ed cost is in the neighborhood of

Road Material Bought.
Astoria. Ore.- In gathering Its ma
terial for highway improvement work
during the coming summer the coun
ty court today awarded a contract to
0, W. Sanborn ft Sons to furnish 23.
500 barrels of cement at $3.16 a bar
rel net, delivered in Astoria.
This is 40 cents a barrel more than
the county paid in 1919. The court
also awarded a contract to the Cal
ender Navigation company to furn
ish 6100 cubic yards of sand at $3 a
yard. The county has appropriated
$496,000 for purchasing road-build
ing machinery- am' the improvement
of roads during 1920.

traffic on the two lines for 1919 was
$2,500,000, while for 1918 it was 1,

automobiles, double the number of
the year before. Ten thousand pas
