Bleakman, Hardman, Oregon Charley Hoy Influenza Victim. Word was received in Heppner late Monday evening from Monu ment, announcing the death there of Charley Hoy, a leading stockman of that section. Mr. Hoy was taken sick about ten days ago with in fluenza, but being strong and healthy he did not think it necessary to take to his bed, so continued about his worn until pneumonia developed. Tills came on suddenly and very severe and Mr. Hoy became a victim of the disease after about two dayi of suffering. A little over three weeks ago Mr.s. Hoy died in Heppner, leaving an infant son of eight days, and now the father is called. There were no other children in the family. Mr. Hoy was quite well known in Heppr.er, and recently spent several weeiis here during his wife's illness. chased a handsome chain to 30 with It. Mr. Hoy remained in Monument to look after affairs of his iikeased son, Charlie. To Poison Rubbit.s. F. It. Brown went down to Irrigoi and Boardman today, where he will assist In getting those places organ ized for putting on an extensive rabbit poisoning campaign. Mr. Brown states that the people of the Alnine district are now ready to begin the work in their section having completed the building of the wire oens. He looks forward to great results being accomplished in this way in the destruction of the pests. BASEBALL COMES BACK WITH THE SAME OLD HEAD AX. Patterson was remembered on Christmas by the gift of a fine gold watch, the lonors being C. E. Woodson, S. K. VanVac ior, S. E. N'otson, K. K. McMenamin, J. J. Nys and C. L. Sweek, the at torneys of the city, and J. A. Waters, J. J. Wells, 1'. A. Anderson and Wm. Avers of the court house force. The Kift was handed to the Judge on Christmas eve by P. A. Anderson -with the expression of the best wish- of the donors, and to say that Mr. Patterson Is proud of this token of esteem is expressing It mildly. Assessor Wells is getting his fur niture and fixtures moved into the room heretofore occupied by Judge Patterson, while Ed Berry is busy decorating the room just adjoining on the north for the reception of the new cunty Judge, V. T. Campbell, who will be inducted into his chair on Monday next. The room vacated by Mr. Wells will be fixed up for the reception of the county court.
