don't know how good it makes a fel
low feel to tier a letter from home.
I am in France and have been for
some time, Vi e left the U. S. shortly
after I wrote :o you. I cannot tell
you the dates or anything of the kind
as everything going out is censored.
We had one awful trip, at least I
did. I never was so sick In my life,
and It lasted nearly all the way. I
was sorry I didn't join the navy, but
when that boat went over the bar
"good-night," I felt myself slipping,
so I went to bed, but when I got up
for supper that was the beginning ot
the end and from then on I had a
feeling as though I had been mixing
drinks the night before. You don't
need to expect to Bee me again until
they bridge the ocean.
I have seen quite a bit of France
since I have been here and like it
fine. We have had some winter but
it is warmer now. There is some of
the stickiest mud here I ever saw.
This camp is just like being In the
I". S. as we run everything, railroads
and all.
I am having the d est time learn
ing French, it is like Chinese to me.
I am working on planes now, that
is repairing them which is very inter
esting work but I would rather work
on automobiles. The planes have a
cut by censor motor of and
'cylinders and will fly almost
straight up.
I cannot tell you everything in a
letter but wait until I get back, I will
tell you all I know about the war
and teach you all I know about flying,
What branch is Nagl in and what
is his address? If he comes across
I will hunt him up the first time I
get a chance.
We are going to whip the Kaiser
this summer then I am coming back.
I am going to bring you a French
maid.
Must close with best wishes to all,

would say a word to comfort the mo
thers, sisters, wives and sweethearts.
Our boys go across to France smiling.
They know they are doing what God
has planned for them to do. They
know they are going to give life, If
necessary', for this beautiful land
made from God's own mind; that It
may all be free. And as God gave
his only son for the sins of the world,
so are the mothers giving their sons.
We know God will take care of them.
If their lives are taken, they are in
his hands. He gave the life, and is
amply able to bike charge of it again.
So, while the mothers, sisters, wives
and sweethearts cannot go, they can
avp, economize and he able to help
i:f.t the boye in the trenches. This
war is according to God's own word,
so i? must be a part of the great plan.
So let us all do our bit. It will all
be added together and amount to a
Kreat lot. If the time comes that 1
have to part with my boy, I will try
to do it with a smile, that he may not
have the thought that he left his mo
ther in tears, and the thought of, my
bravery will add to his. We all have
to racriflce, the rich and poor alike.
God is no respecter of persons.

residents ot said Morrow County;
that said Laura May Stoy is a minor
child, who was born to Edgar Stoy
and Stoy, his wife, at Weiser,
in the County, of Washington, State
of Idaho, on the 2nd day of March,
1904; that the mother of said minor
child is dead; that the father of said
minor child deserted her in tut
month of March, 1916, having left
her in the care and custody of peti
tioners on the 29th day of January,
1916; that said Edgar Stoy, father
of said minor child, has not been
heard from for nearly two years, and
his whereabouts is unknown to the
petitioners; that said Edgar Stoy,
when last seen by petitioners and
said minor child, stated that he In
tended to go to Alaska.
Your petitioners declare that they
and each of them do freely and vol
untarily adopt said Laura May Stoy
as their own child; that it is their
wish to bestow upon said minor child
equal rights, privileges and immuni
ties of children born to them in law
ful wedlock, and that the name of
said child be changed to Laura May
Hays. '
Wherefore, your petitioners pray
that said Court will fix a time for the
hearing on this petition, that notice
thereof be given all persons Interes
ted as provided by law, that on said
hearing a decree of adoption be made
and entered by Bald Court bestowing
on said child all the rights, privileges
and immunities of children born to
them in lawful wedlock, and that the
