A general good time was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Ely served refreshments f fruit, cake, sandwiches and coffee. Guests present were: Earl Morgan and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Holbrook, Mr. and Mrs. Broady, H. 0. Ely and family, H. Swank and wife, Mr. Em- merson and wife, Geo. Ely and Mrs. Isickson, B. F. Sorenson and family, M. C. Todd and wife, J. Y. Gibson and daughter Juanita, and Miss Irene Benedict, Miss Florence Babbott, Morgan's new school teacher, Miss Li Josephine Moore and Miss Lucille Jones; Messrs. Wm. Martin, Ray Klinger and Cecil Thome. F, M. Broady's friends gave him a pleasant surprise on his birthday Thursday evening, Sept. 6. Mrs. Broady served sweet. Juicy water melon and large, delicious peaches, both grown on their ranch, cake, candy, sandwiches and coffee. Eacn member of the party enjoyed himself and wished Mr. Broady many more birthdays. Miss Goldie Benedict, who finished the eighth grade In Morgan school last year, is a student In lone high school this year. Franklin Ely will take his first year in High school In lone this winter. School commenced September 10. Mr. Louy and daughter of lone were callers at the H. Holbrook pear orchard at Morgan Wednesday, tak ing away several sacks of the fine fruit. T. M. Benedict, Sr., delivered sev en head of mules, raised on the Diamond T ranch, to a mule buyer in Heppner Saturday. T. M. Benedict, Jr., and wife were dinner guests at the J. Y. Gibson home Sunday. Mrs. T. Mr Benedict and Mrs. M. C. Todd called on Mrs. F.. M. Broady Monday. Geo. Ely and Mrs. Isickson called at the J. Y. Gibson ranch Sunday af ternoon. Our worthy postmistress, Mrs. Hoi brook, returned home Friday. F. M. Broady sold a valuable cow to Mr. Emerson not long ago. J. Y. Gibson has ordered him a new Paige car. Miss E!va Troedson will teach in lone this winter. Miss Ruth Rivers will attend high school in Portland.
