Auto Accident
While driving home from a trip to
Washington Sunday night Victor
Martin. George Connell and Hugh
Rhea had an automobile -accident
which seriously injured Connell and
Martin and ruined the car.
Thev were driving at a high rate of
speed on a level road when the radius
rod broke, letting the front of the car
down and causing it to turn over
two or three times. Connell and
Rhea were caught under the car, and
Martin was thrown out through the
wind shield. Martin sustained some
cutB and had his ankle sprained, but
he succeeded in getting the car off
the others.
Hueh Rhea was uninjured, and
he walked to Umatilla, 15 miles, and
telegraphed to Echo for assistance.
He made the 15 miles in two and one
half hours. The men were brought
home the following morning. Conn
ell was so severely bruised that he
was confined to bed for some time,
and Martin is getting around on crut
ches. Echo News.
