Newlon bought a new Buick car while in Pendleton the first of the week. Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Jakes of the Fairview district, were visitors in Heppner yesterday. Dan Hanshew of Blackhorse has been spending several days in the city on business matters. J. W. Brewer, secretary of The Dalles Business Mens Association and H. G. Miller, representing the Wit-tenburg-King Co., .were in Heppner last week organizing for increased food production. J. W. Morrow, tax and right of way agent for the Oregon-Washington Railroad & Navigation Company, spent a few days in Heppner the first of the week on business. While here he had the pleasure of meeting many of his old friends. T. E. Chidsey, who has been work ing for some time past at the Oregon Garage, has quit there to take charge as superintendent of construction of the new grain elevator being built by the Farmers Union Warehouse Company of Heppner. Ralph A. Yeager, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Yeager of this city, who has been making his home in Pendle ton, has enlisted in the navy as an engineer, according to a report in the Pendleton Tribune. He has already gone to Portland to report for duty. C. C. Paine, Boardman booster and business man, was in the city Monday from the rapidly growing north Morrow county town. Mr. Paine makes a flattering report of the progress being made at Board man and is well pleased with the out look for that rapidly developing irri gation section. NOTICE OF FINAL SETTLEMENT.
