MEETING Dear Teacher and Pupil: The Portland General Committee of the N. E. A., has formed a plan whereby the children of the State may invite the teachers from other States to attend the N. E. A. in Port land July 7-14, 1917. In our opinion this is a wise pro ject, for by making a direct appeal to those whom the meeting will attract, we may increase the attendance, and afford those who attend an opportuni ty to view our great and growing West.. The State of Utah has been as signed to us and I am sure the. Mor row County teachers and pupils will take such an interest in this matter, that Utah will have the largest de legation of all the states at the N. E. A. We have written to the several County Superintendents of the above named state, for a list of the teachers under their jurisdicton. As soon as these lists arrive we shall mail to each teacher her allotment of names. The Union Pacific System is pre paring a very elaborate illustrated folder especially for the N. E. A, meeting, and they have kindly offer ed to pay the postage on all letters sent by the school children of the State, provided they are given the privilege of enclosing with each let ter, one of these folders. Morrow County will furnish the envelopes, so all we have to do is to write the letter. A plan for this will be sent to each teacher. I hope that every teacher in Mor row County may become a member of the N. E. A. before the associa tion meets In Portland. Very truly yours, LENA SNELL SHURTE, County School Superintendent.
