State cf Oregon, is hereby advertised for de linquent taxes assessed for the year IMS. This advertisement is autho rized by aa act embodied iu Chapter S(i 1 of the General Laws of Oregon, as passed by the IS 13 session of the legislature asser bly. The taxes or. (he following list ad vcrtlsed, of real property, became delinquent OetoPer, 6, 1916. and are subject to a penalty of 5 per cent and interest at the rate of 12 per cent per annum until the said taxes stall have been paid. Notice is hereby given that six months after the taxes charged a- gainst the following real property first became delinquent the Sheriff is required by law to issue certificate of delinquency against the said pro petty for delinquent taxes. The said certificates of delinquency shall bear interest at the rate of 15 per cent per annum until the certificates are redeemed. Any time after the expiration of 3 years from the first date of delin quency of any tax included in the certificate of delinquency the holder of such certificate may cause sum mons to be served on the owner of the nronertv described in the certi ficate notifvine the owner that he will appiv to the Circuit Court of the county in which such property is situated for a decree foreclosing the lien against the property mention ed in such certificate. Objection to boxing and wrestling matches in the city Of Echo was voiced at the council meeting last Tuesday evening. A communication purporting to be from the W. C. T. U., but which was unsigned, was pre sented by Councilman Deweese, ask ing that the contests be discontinued. The communication was referred back to Mr. Deweese by the council with a request that same be signed by the petitioners and made more explicit. Following is the wording oi tne communication: "We the Womens Christian Temperance Union of Echo, having seen the demoralizing effects uoon the boys, and the town general ly, caused by the wrestling and box ing matches do petition the council to have the wrestling and boxing mat ches discontinued in the city of Echo. Condon Visits With Arlington. The local lodge of the Knights of Pythias were assisted in their initia tion work last Monday evening by the degree team of Condon and quite a number of the Condon lodge were present, having driven down In automobiles. They reported the roads out of Condon for a few miles as being in a very bad condition and we under stand that all the cars did not get through on the return trip. The citizens of Arlington were very glad te see so many down on this oc cassion and hope that it will lead to more frequent trips. Arlington Independent. Burdick Cottage Burned. Fire Friday evening destroyed the cottage in West Lawn recently built by R. Hj. Burdick. The Burdick family was taking dinner at the home of Mrs. Lottie Peebler that evening and Mr. Burdick went to the house to renew the fuel in the stove before going to town. When lie left the hodse everything was apparently all right, but he had not been gone ten minutes before the building was in flames. Nothing could be saved from the building, and the family lost every thing except the clothes they were wearing. House and contents were insured. Mr. Burdick announces that he will build again en his lot as soon as the insurance is adjusted. Echo News. Casing Artesian Well. Lon Wattenburger, of Butter creek will have the distinction of having the water system in his residence connected directly with an artesian well. The well is now being cased by C. E. Lewis, and the water will be carried by pipe to the house and also to a cistern for storage of irrigation water. Some trouble has been experienced getting the casing to control the flow of water effectivly, and it was found ncessary to Insert a small pipe Into the main casing and put in a plug to stop the flow of water outside the big pipe, About 25 gallons a minute is the estimated flow of the well after the leakage is stopped.
