Phelps, Supt. Morning theme at the Church ser vice, "Ages of Kindness." Christian Endeavor will he led by Mrs. Noyes. For the mid-week prayer meeting we shall consider the second chapter of Galatians. On Friday evening the ladies of the congregation are giving a ban quet to the men and boys in the par lors of the church. Or., Jan. 20 (Special) The city is not only installing tell tale devices, but is also offering a cash reward for information that will lead to the detection of patrons of the electric light System who are listed on a flat rate for light only, but who steal current for cooking and heating purposes. It is estimat ed that the city is losing hundreds of dollars a year through the theft of electric current. One arrest has been made and more are expected to follow. The only remedy is the installation of meters and this plan is gradually supplanting the .flatrate schedules. Gold Beach Curry county buys rock crusher and equipment to im prove roads in northern part of county- Washington D. C. River and Har bor bill includes $80,000 for Oregon City locks and $36,300 for improving river above docks. Southern Pacific Co. adopts plan if building all wooden freight cars at own shops and from lumber pro duced along its lines. New Era State to provide $15, 000 for highway here in addition to Clackamas County's $16,000 and Federal aid of $30,000. Portland Improvements on North Bank, Oregon Electric, Oregon Trunk and United Railways lines for last 12 months have totaled $500,000. Due to the enterprise of the Bell System, the whole United States may be enabled to hear Pres. Wilson's inaugural speech on Marclf 5, over long distance telephone. Grants' Pass Utah-Idaho Sugar Co. lets contracct to quarry 2,000 tons limestone annually for 5 years from quarry 18 miles from factory. Will haul with auto trucks.
