Sweek, local attorney, re turned Sunday from Caynon City where he had been called on. legal business in connection with the cir cuit court which convened there. Mr. Sweek says the Grant county docket was an exceptionally heavy one at this term, over fifty witnesses being called from Monument on one case. In returning home, heavy snow drifts were encountered just this side of Parkers Mill,, and it was with dim culty that Mr. Sweek was able to get through the mountains. Mrs. A. W. Raglan has been ap pointed to a teaching position In the local school as the result of recent action of the school board to provide a larger teaching force. Mrs. Rag Ian will have charge of the 7th grade and she started upon her duties the first of the week. She has had a number of years teaching experience In California before coming to Ore gon. Mr. Raglan is proprietor of the New Variety Store on May street. Babe Beam, well known Pendleton musician has accepted a position in the Star theatre orchestra in this city.
