As soon as the weather warms up enough to allow the ground to be worked, the construction of a gravel road between Echo and Butter creek will start. This is the announce ment made by Road Supervisor Wat tenburger in a conference with repre sentatives of the Commercial Club yesterday evening. Work will start at the top of the hill just west of town and will con tinue until the available money is ex pended. Mr. Wattenburger expects to use about fifteen teams to start with. Gravel will be banled from a loading trap at the river, and will be spread about five yards to the rod. This will make a gravel coating six inches thick. The gravel will be screened before loading. I There is now available in the Echo road district fund about $3000. The supervisor estimates that gravel road under the conditions west ot town will cost a little more than $1800 to the mile. He intends to complete the graveling of a small strip on the Meadows road between Cunha's cor ner and Fred Andrew's placo, but the cost of this will be small, and the bal ance will be expended in Improving the Butter creek road as far as pos sible. This Is unquestionably the worst piece of road over which there Is heavy traffic in this district, and the i improvement is very much needed. Echo News.
