His family will join him there this week, although they expect to return to Heppner after the wheat hauling sea son is over. II I II M Among the many former Morrow county people who attended the coun ty Fair, was J. W. Becket of Portland. Mr. Becket was a pioneer farmer here having lived In the Eight Mile count ry for years. At the present time his land is being farmed by his son, Wal ter Becket, who has a bumper crop. Crops throughout the Eight Mile country are making a much heavier yield than was forcasted before har vest started. Frank Wilkin was in the city Mon day transacting business. Mr. Wil kin has recently taken up a home stead in the Black Horse country. He believes that he has a good proposi tion considering the scarcity of home stead land in that county. He ex expects to work for Joe Rector through a part of the winter. J. R. "Pap" Simons, a pioneer of Morrow County Is visiting with Hepp ner relatives and old friends. He ex pects to remain here about two weeks before returning to the Odd Fellows home in Portland. "Pap" was en gaged In the blacksmith business In this city for years and built up a re putation for workmanship that lives unto this day. He still owns resi dence property here.
