Miss Ruth Huddleston of Lone Rock is visiting at the home of her Uncle Jim Huddleston in this city. Miss Beatrice Sperry of lone was a guest at the home of her sister Mrs. Mose Gambll! in this city last Friday. County Commissioner Lee Padberg Z came up from lone yesterday to at-; tend the sessions of county court this 5 week. I Miss Sibyl Hager departed last Sat- urday for Eugene to visit for several A weeks with her sister, Mrs. Clifford Sims. . ' Miss Virginia Crawford has gone ' to Tillamook to Bpend the summer 1 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Van Winkle. James H. McCallum returned to his home in Eugene last Saturday after visiting with Heppner friends for two weeks. John Beckett of Eight Mile spent Tuesday in this city and went to Parkers Mill the following day for the celebration. Robert H. Young and Henry Cohn spent the 4th of July in Pendleton. They made the trip in Mr. Young's new Ford roadster. Ed Duran returned last week from the Mayflower group of mines in the Greenhorn mountains. He reports good conditions there. Mrs. J. A. Waters and son Pelmar left the last of the week for Seattle where they will visit through the summer with relatives. Miss Gladys Hams returned to Portland last Saturday after spend ing several days visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas Hams of Hardman. Elmer Beaman has ordered his Ga zette-Times sent to Austin, Ore. dur ing the next two months. Mr. Bea man will be located at the Mayflower mines with Dan Stalter. W. A. Richardson and family start ed for Pendleton on the 4th but ow ing to car troubles were forced to re turn to Heppner after going about 15 miles north of Lexington. Mose Ashbaugh was over from Herminston this week. Mr. Ash baugh still travels for the Monters telli Marble works of Pendleton and he reports good business. Dr. N. E. Winnard left last Sunday for the East. He will be absent from Heppner for about five weeks and while away will take special work at Rochester, Minn., and Chicago. Rev. Geo. B. Van Waters of Port land will conduct services both morn ing and evening at the Episcopal church in this city next Sunday. The public is cordially invited to these services. Frank Cronan of lone and Hoover Stiewer of Fossil spent Sunday even ing with friends in this city. They went on to Fossil Tuesday. Mr. Stei wer has been a student at Stanford university the past year. Another change came in the Hepp ner Delivery Co. this week, when Wilbur Swaggart purchased the in terest of Grover Cox. The business will be condusted in the future by Mr. Swaggart and Jeff Beamer C. L., "Farmer", Smith of the Ore gon-Washington Railroad & Naviga tion Co., was in Heppner this week, Mr. Smith has been supervising some dry farming experiments in the northern end of the county. w. Claud Cox, manager of the milk and cream department of the Morrow County Creamery Company states that this end of the business is getting off to a good start and its future success is now assured. He says the business for" the first month of operation exceeded all exDectinnH. C. A. Minor met with an accident to his Cadillac car on Tuesdav whnii front wheel dropped off, due to the crystallisation of the steel in the spindle.
