Miss Virginia Crawford will leave Saturday for a few weeks visit with friends at Tillamook. Howard Swick was over from Mon ument this week after a load of freight ror Sam Cochran. Sam Cochran and wife of Monu ment have arrived in the city to visit with their daughter, Mrs. Frank Tur ner. Mrs. W. W. McQueen of Milton has arrived in this, city to visit at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ralph Johnson. W. W. Smead went to Portland Wednesday to spend a few days on business. He will return home Sun day evening. H. A. Emry Hardman business man was a Heppner business visitor last Saturday. He reports conditions good in the south end city. ' Miss Altha Devln has returned to her home in this city after visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oral Scott on Heppner Flat. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Buschke, of Rhea creek, were visitors in Heppner Wed nesday. Mr. Buschke reports crop prospects fine in his locality. FOR SALE Several head of work horses, both broke and unbroken. Can see them at my Tub Springs ranch. JAS. CARTY. County clerk waters recently is sued a marriage license to R. B. Steers and Velma Baird, popular young people of the Hardman section. Mrs. C. S. Van Duyn of Spokane ar rived in the city last Friday to visit with her mother, Mrs. Eliza Ayers. Mrs. W. E. Walbridge is also a sister. Mrs. Van Duyn is a former resident of this city. Mrs. Fred Elder went to Portland Sunday and will remain in that city several weeks visiting with relatives and friends. Mr. Elder expects to leave next Monday for Wyomin?, where he will spend the summer with his father. He will visit Yellowstone National Park before returning home. Prof. J. B. Horner of the Oregon Agricultural College will deliver one of his celebrated lectures at the Christian church in this city Satur day evening. Prof. Horner, who is Instructor in history at the state col lege, has traveled extensively in for eign lands, and the , results of his travel in the holy lands will be the basis for his lecture Saturday eve ning. Don't fail to hear him. George Perry returned this week from Ritter, where he has been re ceiving treatment at the McDuffee hot springs. Mr. Perry says the springs are popular these days, there being more guests there than the ho tel can acocmodate. Many Umatilla and Morrow county people are regis tered there at the present time. Sheriff George McDuffee spent sev eral days in Umatilla county on offi cial business the past week. Dan Barlow and daughter, Miss Virginia, were in town yesterday from their farm home on Eight Mile. Mr. Barlow was enthusiastic over the recent rains and now looks for a bumper crop. He is of the opinion that spring sown grain in his section will yield heavier than the fall sown grain. Ed Kellogg, jiteneur, has added to the capacity of his Ford with a trail er. Mr. Kellogg is now prepared to carry passengers and their camping outfits at reasonable charges.
