Ben Frieze and wife of Lexington were Heppner visitors on Wednseday. Tilden Williams of Hardman was In the city several days this week on business. Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Cupper, pioneer residents of Monument, are spendln the week in Heppner. "Hap" Woods was In Heppner Tuesday evening and attended the dance at the fair pavilion. Dick Turpin, the lone barber,, at tended the dance at the fair pavilion in this city last Tuesday evening. Miss Mabel Wilcox came up from lone Tuesday and attended the dance at the fair pavilion in the evening. Rev. H. 0. Perry of Kennewick will preach at the Federated church next Sunday morning and evening. Mrs. Mary D. McHaley and daugh ter Amy returned the past week from Portland, where they spent the win ter. Win. and Louis Padberg, well known Morrow county wheat farmers were in the city on business Wednes day. Mrs. Belle Thompson of Portland is in the city looking after various business interests which she retains here. Milt Maxwell, leading merchant of Parkers Mill attended the annual convention of Odd Fellows at Rose burg last week. Jas. Pointer of Lexington went to Rosebrirg last; week to attend the Odd Fellows convention which was held at that place. Rodney and R. R. McHaley of Prairie City were visiting. relatives iu Heppner this week. R. R. McHaley is county judge of Grant county. Wm. Haylor Is spending the week in Portland visiting with friends and transacting business. He will pro bably remain in the metropolis fof the Kose Festival. Baldwin Ib moving into the Keithley residence on Willow street, recently vacated by Frank Hall and family. Mr. Hall, in company with S. H. Holgate, has lert for California, where he may locate. In the mean time, Mrs. Hall and her daughter are living with her mother, Mrs. Melissa Marlatt. Pruitt Cox,, accompanied by Ms mother, Mrs. J. H. Cox, and Miss Ethel Casey, drove to Waitsburg last Sunday. They left Heppner at 8 o' clock and arrived at their destination a little before four o'clock. They re turned home Tuesday evening, being accompanied to this city from Pen dleton by Mrs. Gladys Slaughter who will visit with friends and relatives here. Dr. J. G. Turner, the well- known eye specialist of Port land, will be in Heppner again Wednesday, June 7th;- one day only at Palace Hotel. lone Monday, June 6th, until 3 p. m. He came up to take care of some business for his company, a local man having matured a policy. W. T. Campbell and wife of Social Ridge left this week for Spokane. Mrs. Campbell will visit with rela tives there while Mr. Campbell goes on to Edmunton, Alberta, after his father who will return with Mr. Campbell to Morrow county for an extended visit. Miss Agnes Pennington of lone was a week end visitor at the home ot Mrs. Roy Whiteis. Born In this city last Friday to Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Swaggart, an eight-pound daughter. E. J. Starkey, local electrician, went to Madras,, in central Oregon, this morning on business. Miss Agnes Pennington of lone attended the dance at the Fair pavi lion in this city on Tuesday evening. Mrs. O. O. Crawford and daughter went to LaGrande today to join Mr. Crawford, who is now located in that city. Barney Doherty, an extensive sheepman of north Morrow county, transacted business In Heppner Wed nesday. , Gus Williamson Is In the city for a vacation after spending the winter on the Butter creek ranch of R. F. Wig- lesworth. Walter Cochran, editor of the lone Independent, came up from the Egg City Tuesday evening for the dance at the Fair pavilion. Frank Edmundson, son of Mrs. M J. Edmundson of this city, has gone ever on the Deschutes river to spend the summer months. A. M. Phelps has been confined to his home the past week with a severe attack of rheumatism. He was im proving at last reports. Mrs. R. Y. Currin and daughter, Mrs. J. R. Williams of French, Idaho, are visiting in this city at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Spencer. Robert H. Young, the Morrow county game warden, made an offi cial visit to Pendleton aud other Umatilla county towns last week. Jas. Johnson of Range Is visiting at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Alex Cor nett in this city. Mr. Johnson is a prominent Grant County stockman. Mrs. Eva Saling and children and Fred Bartholomew of Estacada are visiting at tho home of their mother, Mrs. Mary Bartholomew in this city. Miss Edna Ritchie, who has been attending the local high school the past year,' returned to her home in lone Wednesday to spend the summer months. Mrs. Lucy Young is visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Farnsworth in this city. Mrs. Young has been living in California the past few years. Lester Ingram, student of the local high school the past year has gone to The Dalles to spend his summer vaca tion, He will return for the open ing of school in the fall. , A party consisting of Jos. T. Knap penberg and wife, Misses Jessie Smith Delia Davidson, MurKiel and Marie Cason, Harlan McCurdy, Frank Cro nan, Fayne Coshow, Roy Cochran and Frank Hopkins motored up from lone Tuesday evening for the dance at the Fair pavilion. Wool Is being hauled. to Echo this week from the Butter creek ranch of R. F. Wlglesworth. A shearing crew from Heppner is working on the Wlglesworth ranch, removing the fleece from about ten thousand sheep. The wool is being stored in I. W. Durrill's warehouse for the present, but will probably be shipped to Bos ton soon. Echo News, Dr. V. A.
