NEWS FllOM THE IOK COUNTRY (Continued from First Page) place west of lone, and has come to take charge of it. He expects to make some needed improvements on the place, and one of these will be the sinking of a well S. L. Beck, who is sinking a well on the Barzee place near Ella, met with an accident on Monday that came near costing him an arm. He caught the member in the engine in a manner that tore the flesh loose from the forearm but no bones were broken, a fact that is hardly to be accounted for when the wedging of his arm in the machine was enough to stop it. He has been laid of the job as a consequence Numerous farmers were in from the west end of the county yesterday, and all report that it will be but a few days now until they will be able to resume work. It is reported that the weeds are coming up at a great rate, and this will be a season for getting rid of the pests in large quan tities. Where the wheat was sown In the Fall it is now coming on well and while some complaint is made of the lateness of the season, we hear no kick on the sufficiency of moisture. This will doubtless prove a splendid season for Spring sown grain in this part of the county. The "Ham Bone" minstrels pulled OiT tiieir initial performance at Wal ker's Hall on last Friday evening, and a crowd that filled the place to its full capacity were well entertained and greatly enjoyed the music and puns. As end men, Roy Cochran and Francis Cronan kept up a lively round and made fun for everybody Not the least feature however, was the solo and chorus singing, which had been prepared under the super vision of Prof. W. K. Davis, and the aggregation of pretty girls, only a part of whom were "blacken up, added beautv and charm to the per formance. The show was given in the interests and under the auspices of the Yeomen, and the cash results amounted to about $70.00. There is some talk of taking the minstrel to other points near by, but this has not been definitely settled upon The Union Ladies Aid Society en joyed a very pleasant afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ike How ard on last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs, Howard live about a mile east o town, and six auto loads, constitutin 17 members of the aid and two vis itors were the guest.i. There are a lot of coffees of the "ten -karat" variety masquerading as the "eighteen -karat" kind. There can be no better coffee than CMlb Super-Quality Coike It sells regularly at 40c. No "first quality" coffee should sell for more. There might be times when a higher price would be justified but not now. "Green coffee" prices fluctuate just as does sugar or flour and any other staples. Due to a decreased demand in Europe, coffee has been "down" for a whole year past. During part of this time the "best" coffee could be retailed, with a reasonable profit, at 35c in the home market and 40c in distant markets. During that time we sold ROYAL CLUB at the reduced price. Recently prices have advanced the regular price of ROYAL CLUB is now 40c, and it's worth it. ( The coffee roaster who maintained a price of 40c to 45c, (during this "low market" period, charged you too much he robbed the public of thousands of dollars. They were entitled to share in this saving just as they do on sugar and flour and other staples. The Coffee Roaster who charges you an unreasonable price fifty one weeks out of the year, for coffee no better than ROYAL CLUB, and then reduces his price for one week to what it should have been all the year does not deserve your patronage. We will challenge all competition. ROYAL CLUB has no equal in quality or price. We will not be undersold no, not for a single day. We will allow no "outside" coffee roaster to unload his surplus stock on the unsuspecting public at what he claims to be a marvel ous reuucuuii. For two weeks you may buy ROYAL CLUB at reduced prices to meet all competition. Buy it in any quantity at these prices. You know it is the best that money can buy. You know it is fresh for it's roasted daily in Portland and deliv ered to your grocer in small quanti ties just as he needs it. You can be certain that it has not lost its strength in warehouses or in transit. mr ANY PRKt SfcJ -v7 LAM O. C5 Hl C The "Royal Club" House PORTLAND, OREGON (Continued on Page 6)
