received at the office of the Cleric of
the Brr.rd of County Commissioners
until 10:30 A. M. Saturday, August
21, 1915, at which time said bids will
be opened covering the construction
of a change in County Road No. 319
South from Parkers Mill, Oregon.
The map, plans, estimates and
specifications for the construction of
said road are on file in the office of
the County Clerk of Morrow County,
Oregon, at Heppner, Oregon, and a
complete copy will be furnished pros
pective bidders for the sum of $10.00.
The right is reserved to reject any
and all bids. Bids must be sealed
and marked "Proposal for the con
struction of change in Road No. 319."
No bid will be considered unless
accompanied '-by a certified check
made payable to the County Treasur
er of Morrow County, Oregon, for 5
per cent, of the amount of the bid
based upon the approximate esti
mate. The checks of the lowest ac
ceptable bidder and also of the next
lowest bidder will be held until the
contract is signed, which checks shall
be forfeited to the County in case the
award is made to them and they shall
fail, neglect or refuse for a period of
five days, after the award is made, to
enter into a contract and file a bond
as prescribed by law, and to the sat
isfaction of the County Court.

Mr and Mrs. Jas. Johnson and
daughter are visiting this week at the
home of his mother, Mrs. Alex Cor
nett, being on their way to their
home at Range, Oregon. Mrs. Cor
nett is quite ill at the present and
Mr, Johnson expects to remain here
until her condition improves.
Eva Whittington, young daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Whittington,
was operated on at Heppner Sanator
ium Tuesday morning for appendici
tis and the removal of her tonsils.
She was taken quite ill Monday night
with the appendicitis attack and the
operation revealed the fact that the
appendix was badly diseased. Hav
ing been a sufferer from badly dis
eased tonsils, also, it was thought an
appropriate time to relieve the young
lady of this trouble, hence the two
operations at one time. Miss Whit
tington is getting along fine at this
writing.
