Mulligan of Lone Rock was a Heppner visitor last Saturday. i R. N. Moffat returned to Heppner last night after spending several days In Portland with his family. i Henry F. Blahm, Willow creek far mer and dairyman, was In town yes terday after harvest hands. John W. Scrlvner, successful far- mer of Democrat Gulch, was doing business In Heppner Monday. The Ashbaugh blacksmith shop building Is receiving a new coat of paint this week. M. J. Bradford & Son are doing the work. E. J. Renfrow and wife, H.E.Driv er and wife and Miss Lena McDaniel, all of Wallowa, were registered at the Palace Saturday. Dick Turpln, tonsorlal artist of lone, was a visitor in Heppner over Sunday night, returning to his place of business Monday forenoon. Jack Kennedy, of Hermlston, was In Heppner last Friday evening. Mr, Kennedy met Jim Nouregard of Ba ker In a fast wrestling match in Lex ington Saturday evening. Geo. Perry, the Rock creek farmer and stockman, was in the city Mon day. He Is Just starting the hay har vest and Harry Groshen went out last Friday to assist In the work. Dan Hlrl, who ranches In the vicin ity of the Potts, at the head of But ter creek, was In Heppner Tuesday and attended the McLaughlin-Doher-ty wedding. Dan is a successful stockralser of that section. Ben Moore was In from his home stead at the head of Eight Mile Tues day. The recent hot days did a lot of damage to crops In that locality, according to Mr. Moore and the yield has been greatly shortened. The saloon run by M. T. Gentry at the upper end of Main street, has closed, Mr. Gentry having decided to go out of the business, did not renew ht license on July 1st. This leaves Heppner with six saloons a suffi cient number perhaps to supply all the needs of the thirsty until Jan uary 1, 1916.
