' , W. B. Finley was in Lexington Sat urday after more sacks. He reports the weather rather warm in the Ba nana Belt. Al Zlnk and family were Lexington visitors Saturday and Sunday. Mr. Zink will start a threshing machine in this vicinity, Johnny and Gus McMillan made a flying trip to Portland and Rock away beach. They arrived home Sunday evening. A large show tent was set up on one of the streets last Monday, and will provide entertainment for the public this week. Miss Edna Cajmlchael arrived home Sunday evening from Mon mouth where she has been atetnoMng the State Normal School for the past year A new Case threshing machine was unloaded at the depot Saturday. It was taken to J. C. Campbell's farm to start threshing. French Bros, Brown and Campbell will operate it. A few days last week several far mers sold their crops for a good mar ket price, which reached 80 cts. Some others did not get quite so much. There have been few arrests in Salem during the past two months for drunkenness, the" records in the police court showing that only seven have been up for this offense in, the last 60 days. Salem is certainly on the water wagon with a veneeani if this record is any criterion. But maybe some cases have been over looked. Salem Messenger.
