Morgan, at Joost's, June 20. Castle Rock, June 22. Has Ileen a Splendid Season. Not in many years has the Morrow county sheepraiser enjoyed a better season than the one just closing. A conservative estimate on the in crease of lambs over former seasons is 10 per cent. The season for lamb ing has been almost perfect, the prev alence of cold winds, rains and flur ries of snow of former seasons was entirely absent; grass has been abun dant and the lambs dropped have been saved. The newly shorn sheep have likewise benefitted from these same conditions, and there has been no loss at all among the thousands of flocks but recently denuded of their winter covering. It is also ob served that sheep never came to the shearing pens in better condition. The winter was light with plenty of good feed all the time and the flocks were all in prime condition. One of our leading flockmasters who has been in the business in this county for years, states that it is his opin ion that this county never enjoyed a better season in the sheep industry than the present one. In times past better prices for wool have been ob tained, but to average the business up as a whole this season stands in the lead. About Heppner, and over the county at large, shearing is prac tically done and the shearers are be ginning to move to the other fields where the season is not so far ad vanced as here. Most of them going to Montana. Mayor Smead on Sick List. For the past four or five days Mayor Srnead has been confined to his bed by a severe attack of la grippe, or something of that nature, his illness requiring the attention of a physician.
