Springfield and Hood River have stock subscribed forcanner- les. The Wilbur woolen mills at Stayton will be enlarged and a warehouse and mattress factory added. The Everfresh Food Products Co. at Sutherlin will enlarge its plant to double capacity. The Rainier Mineral soap fac tory at St Helens has made ar rangements to operate this year, starting this month. Catholic people at La Grande are planning a $30,000 cathedral. The Milton box factory is being enlarged to 500,000 capacity. The new Southern Pacific bridge over Coos Bay will cost $800,000. A logging company at Knappa will extend its railroad three miles. Eugene Fruit Growers Associa tion has orders for $10,000 of their 1914 product. West Linn, Clackamas county, will erect a $15,000 city hall. LEXINGTON ITEMS. Mrs. Geo. Allyn is entertaining her husband's mother, who came to visit them the last of the week. What lovely weather for March. We hope we wont have to pay for it during the latter part of fie month. Willis and Bert Ward have gone over to Hermiston to put a lot of their horses at work on the Gov ernment works. Miss Olmsted, one of our local teachers, was taken quite ill with heart trouble Saturday afternoon. Dr. Conder was called. Willis Ward has moved into the Boothby house and Gus McMillan has moved into his new home which is just completed. Little Gerald White was quite ill at his home on Sunday and Sunday night. His parents were obliged to remain up through the night with him. On Friday night the big enter tainment in the Artisan hall will be held. Admission 25 and 50 cents. A good time promised to a'l. Benefit Home Mission So ciety. Mr. and Mrs. H. Van Dyke, who were married in December and went on a wedding trip to Bend, Ore., are back in Lexing ton. Mrs. Van Dyke was for merly Miss Susie Munkers. On Thursday of last week a new Methodist minister made his appearance at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Taber. Saturday night a daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Gus McMillan. Some strangers came in Sun day evening from Eastern Ore gon. They said they had heard so much of this section as a farm country that they thought they would come and look it over. We hope they were favorably enough impressed to buy land and make this their home. Our local citizens who are our guardians of the law in Lexing ton were called together for the purpose of c6nducting the trial of Mrs. Bert Clarke against Thos. Hansen. Hansen, who claimed Clarke owed him wages, was fined $10.00 and costs which was quickly paid by witnesses who were present.
