Miss Lilah Clark, faculty member of Heppner High sohool is attending a meeting of the State Teachers Asso ciation in Salem this week. Ray Emerson, a foimer HepiiniT boy, but now a business man of Eugene, is up from the Lane county metropolis visiting with his father, A. L. Emerson. Dr. A. D. McMurdo was called to the W. E ViKglenworth ranch on Batter creek lust Sunday evenine, where he found one of the hired men sicK with the measles. One member of the O. A. O. Cadet Baud is especially well known in this city, where he ma'ie his home for sev eral years. This gentleman is Ralph, "Tigs" Kenton, a former member of the class of 1912 of HeDDner High chool. It was only during (he last two years of Mr. Kenton's residence in this city that his musical Qualities were biought out. After leaving Heppner, he went to Albany and grad uated from Albany High school. He has come out wonderfully under Cap tain Beards' direction. This is bis second vear at O. A. C. and he is a first chair man in the clarinet division. His old Heppner. friends are justly proud of bim. Jesse R. Kellems and wife and James McCallum of Eugene, arrived at Heppner on Tuesday evening Mr. Kellems and Mr. McCallum are the boy evangelists engaged to conduct a aeries of meetinss at the Christian church in this city that is to continue over a period of four weeks. These young men are well equlped in their line and there is promise that Heppner will have one of the very best revivals iu her history. Frank S Parker arrived at Heppner on Saturday from Philomath, Oregon, to join his family who have been in Heppner for several months past. He was accompanied by Mr. Clyde Craw ford, of Shedd, Oregon, who will re main here for the winter. Mr. Parker aod family expeot to make their home In Morrow county. Irs. W. S. Taylor who has been visting at the home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Stevenson in Hepp ner for the past three months, depart ed for her home at Oakland, Calif. , on Saturday. Mrs. Taylor was called here by the seiious illness of her mother who is now reported to be greatly improved in health. Wilson O. Bayless was in from his Rhea creek home on Tuesday. Jones have moved to town from their Eieht Mile farm to remain for the balance of the school term. The thermometer is getting a whack these nights. Robison, of Hardman, underwent a very serious surgical operation at Heppner Sanatorium Monday. She vas just returning from a visit of several weeks with her people at Forest Grove and Port- Ian and was taken ill at Heopner. The operation was reported very suc cessful and Mrs, Robison is doing well at this time. Sunt S. E. Notson left for Salem on Monday to attend the meeting of the State Teacher's Association. It shall be unlawful tor any person, firm or corporation to import or sell any infected or diseased fruit of any kind in the state of Oregon. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this act shall be deemed suilty of a mis demeanor, and upon conviction there of shall be punished by a fine of not le6s thau 125 nor more than $100.
