Lowell Akers, son of G. M. Akers
of Gooseberry, who has been under
treatment at Heppner Sanitorium for
sometime for a bad. case of appendi
citis was suihnienetly recovered to
return toh his ome yesterday.
In mentioning a sale of horses last
week made bv Spencer Akers it was
stated that he sold eleven heart for
tlOOO, when it should have been 7
head, or an average of better than
140 per bead. Mr. Akers does not
care to set a price so far below what
such stock Is worth.
David Hynd, of Hynd Bros, of Sand
Hollow, received the sad intelligence
on Friday of the death of his oldest

James Mcgnire, an ex-conviot and

He had been in prison up to a year
ago fot killing bis partner in the

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that on Thursday, the 4th day of De
cember. 1913. the County Court of Morrow County, Oregon, will be
in regular session at the Court House in Heppner, Oregon, and any
taxpayer of Morrow County, Oregon, will be heard in favor of or
against the proposed tax levy as hereinafter itemized.
ITEMIZED STATEMENT.
Prepared in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 234 of
the 1913 Oregon Session Laws, showing an estimate of the amount
of money required to be raised by taxation by Morrow County, Ore
gon, for the year 1914, to maintain each department of the county
government, county office or county officer, and for each county im
provement, the maintenance of each county building; structure or
institution, and for the salary of each county officer or employee,
and for the improvement and maintenance of ' public highways,
roads and bridges, and for other contemplated expenditures.
Also showing the probable receipts of Morrow County, Ore
gon, from sources other than direct taxation upon real and persona
property for the year 1914, and also the amount of the balances of
the various funds of Morrow County, Oregon, upon Nov. 1, 1913.
