Wolf Creek, Jogfphine Co. ore. Editor Heppner Gazette-Times : Dear Sir:-! see by last week's pa per that yon have an argument on in Heppnei as to who spliced the flag polo by Bank corner. Now I happen to be the party who cut and haulnd that pole. I got it out of Ibe head of Marlatt canyon. It was not put up in honor of the Snanieh-American war, but in honor of ex -senator John 11 Mtchell who made a speech on the next day after it was erected and to the best of my memory Jim Roberts did help to splice it, but Ike Enms. the electrician, did the job or way overseer of it. But understand it was erected in honor of J. II. MitnhiOl, and I had a hard time getting that p ole to town and only got eight dollars for the job. J W STEWARD. Christian Ghurqh.
