Feldman and children left Friday for Slianico where Mr. Feld man now has chaige of the railroad station. Bert Eowker drcve their auto over but tha family went by train. Maurice Smead oame up from Port land Sunday and departed Monday for Ditch creek io company with his father, Postmaster Smead, and to Kether they will enjiy a few weeks outing at that mountain retreat. Mrs. G. W. Swaggnrt was ud from Jordan for several days this week looking after some improvements to her residence property here that is being used at the present time by the Sisters of Charity as a hospital. The dust is all mud row, and the downpour of rain for the last day or two has put the harvesters out of bus iness. The roads will be benefited but it will do little good to the grain that is now ready for the machine. I am offering for sale my Heppner residence property. $1500 takes the place, including piano, and household furniture. Enoch Cave was down from the Black Butte section Monday with fifteen gallons of huckleberries which he delivered to different Heppner peo ple. He states that he has no diffi cutly in disposing of all the berries that he and his family can gather. Hail storms have been prevalent in the mountain districts several days the past weec and parties coming down from the various camps state that the huckleberry crop bas been materially damaged. In some places the ground seems to bo literally covered with the fruit that has been knocked from the bushes. Prot. John Straub, of the U. of 0. visited Heppner on Moadiy. He is making a tour of Eastern Oregon in the. interests of ti e University, and while here organized an alumni asso ciation witn Mr v. sa woonsnn us nrosident and Miss Josephine Cameron, secretary. This association will help m the work of promoting the welfare of tha University in Morrow onunty and be of assistance in the coming election on the approbation bills, well as koeo in touch with prospective students. Prof. Stranb Interviewed a number of the High School gradu atos while here and has some of them lined up for the state school this fall The new saw mill, owned by Messrs Slocum and Bncknum and located on Willow creek about 14 miles southeast of Heppner is known by the name of Willow Creek Saw Mill. It is the most conveniently located mill of this section, as to distance and road. further relief as to this court may aim just and equitable. Van De Mark makes inquiry about his son. L. E. Van DeMark who he understands is working on a laige stock ranch in this pait of the state. The father is very anxious to get in communication with his son, and any information concerning his whereabouts will be gladly received. Adam Knoblook left for Slioopard Springs Sunday to accompany his wife home. He was accompanied by a brother who has been visiting him here for sometime, and is returning to his home at Tillamook. Mrs. Knob lock has beii at the Springs for some time treating for chronic rheumatism but has not materially improved. We trust the "News" may prove a real boon to our thriving neighbor city and a source of wealth to its promoters. R. W Fletcher and family, of Pen dleton are visiting at the home of Mrs. Fletcher's mother, Mrs. Eleanor Cameron. Mr. Fletcher is circulation manager of the E. 0. at Pendleton and is making a tour of the country hy wagon and team and incidently doing a littlo boosting for the Round Up. The Light & Water Co. have finish ed the work on the big reservoir on the hill and have had a force of men during tha week in digging trenches and laying new miins on the exten Kions to the new school building. The work will proceed right along now until the plant is entirely renewed. Bernard Brandt of Portland, is here n the employ of Mover Brothers. He is an experienced machine man, nd a practical machinist who knows 11 about machines and machinery. Mr. Brandt epxresseg himself greatly pleased with the crop outlook in Mor row county.
