Mr. Robert's run on the branch until the piaco is posted and bid in per haps about the first of next month. Arthur L. Larson, who combines ranching and pedagogy by operating his fine ranch at Boardinan and teaching school on Better creek, h: here this week attending teachers' institute. Mr. Larson Is an enthusi astic farmer and is making a success v. ilh h in tract on the Hoard man pro ject. Last spring, wishing to seed a K-a.cre tract to alfalfa, he stole a march on Dame Nature in an effort to get a real crop of hay the first year. He combined 10 pounds of al falfa seed, 21) pounds of Gorman mil let and 40 pounds of Bluestem wheat. The combination proved a success and Mr. Larson harvested a hay crop making three tons to the acre. He now has a second ci-op of alfalfa ready to cut from the same ground that will go nearly a ton more. DIKD At the residence of his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Briggs, at Heppner, October 15th, 1922, Julius French Briggs, aged twenty years and two months. Burial at Masonic cemetery, Monday, October ICth at 2:30 p. m. Services were held at the grave. Mrs. Lay Moore who has charge of the Moore hospital has been serious ly ill with pneumonia but at this writing she is much improved. Mrs. James Lindsay who was oper ated on, for appendicitis is improving and will soon bo able to be around again. Kd Kngleman from loo was a bus iness visilor in Heppner Monday. We wish to express our thanks to our friends for their sympathy and assistance on the death and burial of our son and brother, Julius F. Briggs. ' and also for the many kindnesses ren , dered during his life o affliction and ' suffering. These evidences of friend : ship and love will always bo cheristi : ed in our fondest memories. L. W.
